I saw this insect, does anyone know what it's called? There were a lot on a tree next to one of my children's school.

Your family life affects your child's behaviour...

It is important to find joy from inside not from just what you do so that even on not so good days when you are tired or children's behaviour is very challenging, you can still find joy. Gosh! I love being a teacher πŸ’•

You need to choose battles that you are going to win, if it does not change the price of bread - don't stress yourself about it.

His arm was not broken but he needed Mommy to show love and care when his arm felt sore, so I definitely obliged, why? Because it costed me nothing but won me my child's love and confidence πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

There are times where we need to educate and bring clarity but sometimes just indulge them also for the sake of peace and your own sanity πŸ˜„

Making education a lifestyle is possible... you start small, be intentional about sharing information with your children. Speak to children as you speak to neurotypical human beings. Use the regular words you would use.
Remember the more words they have in their vocabulary, the better they can think...

Always remember that children need to and HAVE to play... this is crucial to their development but you CAN help by providing tools or allowing them to make up their own games...

When you are looking for pre-school for the new year...

Visit the school, don't just go for the money and location. Ask to be shown around.

Just a few things you can look for amongst others;
- Do the other children seem happy?
- How friendly are the staff?
- Is it clean - check the toilets?
- How big are the classes? The child to teacher ratio should be (6 children to 1 teacher for under 3 years, 25 children to 1 teacher over 3 years)
- Are the teachers qualified?
- Is there a curriculum being followed?
- Is the place safe, fenced and locked?
- Policy or rules governing drop off and collection
- The values of the school...

Other things you may be able to over look or work around like the time they open or close, outings, picture taking policies, themes etc... Thats for Natasha Luja Mpetukana type parents who want to know EVERY possible thing...

Lets get our heads out of the clouds:

In light of GBV, I am learning that as parents we can breed monsters or respectful members of society.

My son likes playing and tends to annoy his bigger sister. Many times she said no and he didn't stop. I used to say, "oh he just wants to play, just indulge him a bit he loves you". Until one day it clicked! No! He needs to understand that No means No! And he should stop when someone says stop!.

This is to prevent him getting used to this knowshin that he doesn't have to stop --- it was a rude awakening but a very small but important part I think parents can play in preventing developing monsters....
