REFLECTION / RESOLUTION
It is that time of the year again!
Time for reflection – what did I achieve this year? Time for resolution – what am I going to achieve next year?
English cabinet maker, Den Hatchard advises:
“Choose projects which are challenging, but not way beyond your skill and knowledge levels. Don’t skimp. Buy good tools and materials. Seek advice when needed. Enjoy your woodworking – and if you’re not in business, forget the clock!”
Best wishes from Denis and Michael for 2019.

Workshop motto
Each year I choose a new motto. This is printed, laminated and mounted in a prominent spot in my workshop. I hope that my choice motivates my students, other visitors to my workshop, Michael and myself. This year's motto is:
"The secret of joy in work is contained in one word - excellence. To know how to do something well is to enjoy it."
(Pearl S Buck - American writer and novelist - winner of 1938 Nobel Prize in Literature).

Lorraine, the first student in my new workshop (Unit E24), learns the fundamentals of hand-held routing. This exercise involves the routing of a pattern in the face of an MDF door.
