TEACH South Africa

TEACH South Africa At TEACH SA, we’re on a mission to re-imagine education and inspire classrooms where learners thrive!

TEACH South Africa was started by the South African business community in direct response to finding ways to improve South Africa’s economy. After years of researching educational initiatives around the world, the TEACH South Africa founding members decided to be part of the solution by placing highly skilled and motivated recent university graduates in the classroom. This will not only benefit the learners and help close the achievement gap that persists in South Africa, but also prepares a generation of learners to be better prepared for university and the workplace.

TEACH South Africa recently attended the Women’s Health Matters Conference, joining important conversations around women’s health, wellbeing and empowerment.

The conference brought together leaders, experts and advocates to discuss women’s health across every stage of life, including reproductive health, maternal health, mental wellbeing, period poverty, endometriosis, menopause, cancer care and the impact of gender-based violence.

Importantly, the conversations also highlighted the challenges faced by young girls in our communities and classrooms, including the need for greater access to resources, support and policies that address their health and wellbeing.

As an organisation, we value opportunities to engage in conversations that contribute to stronger, healthier and more supportive communities.

Today, on World Su***de Prevention Day, we are reminded that every life matters.

Mental health is an important part of our overall wellbeing, yet many people continue to struggle in silence. Sometimes, a simple conversation, a listening ear or checking in on someone can make a meaningful difference.

Let us create spaces where people feel safe to speak about what they are going through without fear of judgement. Listen with compassion. Check in with the people around you. Offer support. And remind those who may be struggling that they are not alone.

If you or someone you know is experiencing emotional distress or thoughts of su***de, please consider reaching out to a qualified mental health professional or an appropriate support service. Asking for help is a sign of strength, and support is available.

Together, we can help build communities where people feel seen, heard, supported and valued.

Today, we celebrate the power of literacy to open doors, build confidence and create opportunities.

Every learner deserves the chance to read, learn, grow and shape their future. Together, we can help make that opportunity possible.

As we step into a new week and a new season, may we continue to ignite curiosity, inspire learning, and create opportunities for growth.

Every lesson has the power to spark an idea. Every teacher has the power to inspire. Every learner has the potential to shape the future.

Here is to a new season of learning, growth and possibility.

For 18 years, TEACH South Africa has been driven by a simple but powerful belief: a quality education can give a young person the opportunity to build a better life, contribute to their community and help shape the future of our country.

TEACH SA was established in response to the inequalities that continue to affect education in South Africa, particularly in under-resourced schools where learners and educators often face barriers that can limit their opportunities to succeed.

Our work is rooted in the belief that where a learner is born, the school they attend or the resources available to them should not determine how far they can go.

This is where our STEM Ambassadors make a difference.

STEM subjects such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics can be gateways to further study, careers and opportunities. Yet too many young people are discouraged from pursuing these subjects because of the unfounded belief that they are simply “too hard”.

Our STEM Ambassadors work to change that narrative.

They support and encourage learners to excel in STEM subjects, build confidence in their abilities and recognise their own potential. But their role goes beyond helping learners achieve a pass. They go above and beyond to inspire learners to dream beyond high school, see themselves in careers they may never have considered and believe that those futures are within their reach.

Because sometimes, changing a learner’s future begins with helping them believe that a different future is possible.

And this matters beyond South Africa.

When we invest in education, we invest in the future of Africa. An educated and empowered generation has the potential to solve problems, create opportunities, drive innovation and build stronger communities across the continent.

This National Charity Day, please help us invest in that future by ensuring that no child is left behind.

Your support can help us reach more learners, strengthen more schools and create more opportunities for young people to learn, grow and dream beyond what they believe is possible.

TEACH South Africa recently attended the 2026 Nedbank Green Economy Indaba, a platform bringing together young people, entrepreneurs, businesses, policymakers and changemakers to explore practical solutions for a more sustainable and inclusive South Africa.

Under the theme “Green Economy: A Solution for a Thriving Society,” the Indaba highlighted the importance of innovation, sustainability and creating opportunities for young people to actively contribute to the green economy.

For TEACH South Africa, conversations around sustainability are also conversations about education. By equipping young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to engage with the challenges of our changing world, we can help prepare a generation that is ready to innovate, lead and build solutions for a better future.

TEACH South Africa recently visited Lindisa Primary School and Thabeng Primary School in the Sedibeng West District to experience the Edulution Mindspark programme in action.

The visit provided an opportunity to see how adaptive learning technology is being used to support learners, strengthen foundational Mathematics skills and respond to individual learning needs.

As we continue to champion quality education and strengthen STEM learning in South Africa’s schools, engagements like these allow us to explore innovative solutions that complement educators and create meaningful learning opportunities for every learner.
