EduStreams Vocational High School

EduStreams School is an independent, registered, vocational high school in Kyalami, Midrand. The focus is on 75% practical skills and 25% theoretical learning.

It specialises in skills training and offers an academic and non - academic pathway to suit different learning profiles. EduStreams School offers students who have difficulty in a mainstream academic context, with an alternative vocational curriculum developed by the Department of Education. The teaching is more tailored to student's specific needs and learning abilities and is a practical, hands-on qualification. GCE Technical Occupational Curriculum

The goal of this high school 4-year course is to empower students with skills required to enter the World of Work. Students are taught tailored academic subjects such as English, Mathematics, Life Orientation, Social Sciences, ICT as well as Drama and PE. The school day also develops student skills in a choice of relevant vocational electives. At EduStreams School we currently offer the exciting electives of:

Our Year 4 ECD students successfully completed their Integrated Project Assessment, set by the Department of Basic Education.

Each student demonstrated their ability to teach, as well as create classroom resources. They told a fairy tale using visuals (literacy), taught a number song (numeracy), as well as included an aspect of Science & Technology in their presentations.

Our younger Pre -TOC students enjoyed their presentations 👏

Our Beauty & Nail Technology students have moved to a bigger learning centre this term!

It has created an exciting environment where practical skills learning can flourish.

The Year 2 learners have officially started their Nail Art journey - exploring the striping tape and developing precision and creativity in their designs. They have also started exploring body massage.

Our Year 4 learners have made us proud, completing their DBE Integrated Nail Technology Projects - showcasing skills such as:

Last week EduStreams launched our weekly Entrepreneurship Market Day.

Students are encouraged to develop key skills such as creating, marketing and selling their own product or service to our school community. The profits are then shared amongst the group participating.

An important part of the process is to reflect and report back on their success, as well as lessons learnt.

Our Agricultural Studies students have been getting their hands dirty, learning the full process of crop preparation and planting.

They have also been discovering how Mathematics, Hospitality and Agriculture can work together, learning the skills of measurement, spacing, quantities and calculations.

They have particularly enjoyed taking the fruits of farming to the table - turning learning into delicious practical experiences! 😋

Art & Crafts is a popular skill at EduStreams as it allows our students to explore and express their creativity.

Last week our older students designed ornamental spiders which they then created out of beads and wire.

Our younger learners created nature inspired mixed media texture gardens. They also created women silhouettes in the same way, to celebrate Women's Month.

They explored colour, shape, texture and composition by adding materials such as flowers, leaves, soil, grass and small branches, as well as sawdust and beads - learning that art can be created from nature and every day items.
