Approximately 15% of individuals diagnosed with Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) may actually have mosaic Down syndrome. There are also likely individuals living with mosaic Down syndrome who are never diagnosed at all.

Mosaic Down syndrome can look different from person to person, which is why awareness, understanding and accurate diagnosis matter. 🧬💙

This month, we raise awareness about Down syndrome and celebrate the incredible individuals who bring their own unique strengths, talents and personalities to our communities.

Did you know?
Down syndrome occurs when a person has a full or partial extra copy of chromosome 21. There are also different types of Down syndrome, including mosaic Down syndrome, where some cells have an extra copy of chromosome 21 while others have the typical two copies.
