Merino Wool Terminology ➡ YIELD [What you actually get] 🧶
Raw wool isn’t all wearable fibre. Yield tells us how much clean, usable wool remains after removing grease, dirt, and vegetable matter. Higher yield = more value from every bale.

General Merino yield facts:
🧶 A single Merino sheep can produce around 4–8 kg of greasy wool per year, depending on genetics, nutrition, and environment.
🧶 After cleaning and processing, about 50–70% may remain as usable wool, depending on the amount of grease, dust, and vegetable matter present.
🧶 That means a fleece weighing 6 kg raw might yield only around 3.5–4 kg of clean wool.
