Train in the kit you fight in.
Too often, equipment is worn for the first time when it matters most. Body armour, helmets, night vision, respirators, communications equipment and weapon systems all change the way you move, see, shoot and solve problems. If you don't train with it consistently, you're discovering those limitations when you can least afford to.
One of the most overlooked examples is shooting while wearing a respirator. The mask changes your cheek weld and head position, making it significantly harder to achieve a proper sight picture with standard-height optics. What works perfectly on a flat range without a mask can quickly become frustrating when protective equipment is added.
This is where raised optic mounts and properly positioned laser aiming modules become valuable tools. Higher sight heights allow a more natural and upright head position, while lasers provide an aiming solution when a traditional cheek weld is no longer practical. Neither replaces good fundamentals, but both help bridge the gap created by protective equipment.
Equipment should never be treated as an accessory. Every piece of kit you carry affects your performance. Train with it. Test it. Refine it. Then train with it again.
