The idea of a water-powered car is intriguing, but it's not feasible with our current understanding of physics and chemistry. Here's why:

1. **Energy Extraction**: Water is a very stable compound, and extracting energy from it directly is not possible. The energy required to break the bonds in water molecules (H₂O) is greater than the energy you would get back¹.

2. **Electrolysis**: Some concepts involve using electrolysis to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, then using the hydrogen as fuel. However, this process requires more energy input than the energy output you get from burning the hydrogen¹³.

3. **Thermodynamics**: The laws of thermodynamics ensure that you can't get more energy out of a system than you put in. This means that any system claiming to run a car on water alone would violate these fundamental laws¹.

There have been some advancements, like Toyota's development of a hydrogen engine that uses water for cooling, but this is not the same as a water-powered car². The hydrogen still needs to be produced using energy from other sources.
