Our 2nd meeting of the Month.
We are happy to announce that on the 27th May 2023 we will continue and finish reading a book by a collective of Merafong Authors called Love Letters To Merafong.

This is a well written and great book to read. It relates with everyone in Merafong and the EarRead Project has extended the invitation to our book club to carry on with the torch.

If you are an aspiring writer or you want to learn how to write a book well here is an opportunity for you. You must be a resident from Merafong where you will be tutored/instructed on how to write a book. The main gain is to get other writers to continue with Love Letters To Merafong. We want to have as many letters we can have so the next E-book can be published and shared. Merafong is a beautiful place and it needs us to plant seeds back into it so it can also blossom like a beautiful flower it is. A lot of people are saying Khutsong is a place of no hope and it kills dreams.

We would like to at least change the mindset of these people because Khutsong was created for a reason and you can even hear it in the name. Khutsong!!! The place of rest! It is high time we resonate with the name and birthed a new generation of Khutsong residents. For example places like Soweto started from nothing to where Soweto is. What is stopping us from bringing life into Khutsong. Please join our initiative and spread the word.

Ubizo: Solo Piano

uBizo simply translates as: ‘the calling’. In Nguni worldviews, it is believed that our purpose on earth is encoded in our calling. This is displayed in our seriousness with names and meaning. Our ancestors took seriously the process of naming a child such that the ‘name giving rituals’ became a way of inviting, to the world, the spirit of the one-to-be-born (believed to be returning). This means that, the one who follows their calling and their name, in the process, also attains the deepest meaning of being. This being, underpinned by ntu-philopraxis, proposes an expanded notion of ontology that situates the spirit worlds as part of a communion of being.

This background, troubles the notion of ‘solo’ as a kind of ‘aloneness’ — while this concert is proposed as a ‘solo-concert’, it aims at invoking wholeness of being. As such, improvisation will be employed as a tool to reveal the presence of and ‘elsewhere’, a spirit world.
