PROUD PENRYN RUGBY MOMENT!

Six Penryn rugby players are currently representing Mpumalanga at the IPT Rugby Tournament in Kempton Park, earning the opportunity to test themselves at provincial level against some of the best young rugby talent in the country.

8 days to go until Penryn’s Visual Art Exhibition, “The Things We Carry”.

The countdown is on.

In just eight days, the Cultural Hall will become a space where our scholars’ creativity takes centre stage, with each artwork offering a glimpse into the memories, experiences, people and places that have shaped them.

This exhibition is about more than what we see on the walls. It is about the stories, emotions and ideas carried within each piece and the courage to share them with an audience.

Well done to our Grade 3 scholars, Zezakhe Nzuza and Kevin Masia, who competed in the Mpumalanga Chess Tournament.

Despite the stiff competition, both scholars showed determination and stayed focused throughout the tournament, each securing a win.

More than the result, it was wonderful to see Zezakhe and Kevin walk away, proud of their achievement and the experience they gained on the chessboard.

Well done, Zezakhe and Kevin. We are so proud of you!

Ten days to go until Penryn’s Visual Art Exhibition, “The Things We Carry”.

On Thursday, 8 October, the Cultural Hall will come alive with an exhibition of creativity, expression and the stories woven into the artwork of our scholars.

From memories and experiences to people, places and moments that shape who we become, “The Things We Carry” invites us to look beyond the artwork and discover the stories behind it.

Penryn College continues to make exciting strides in biathlon!

What began with just one Penryn athlete has now grown to four athletes competing at Mpumalanga Biathlon League 3, with our U17 boys achieving an outstanding clean sweep of the top four positions, finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

The momentum continues, with five Penryn athletes now in contention for selection to the Mpumalanga Provincial Biathlon Team, with the goal of representing Mpumalanga at the South African Championships in March 2027.

To meet the provincial selection criteria, athletes must compete in the required leagues and Inter Provincial competition while achieving the required 1,900 point qualifying performance. Three of our five athletes have already placed themselves strongly in contention, while the remaining two continue working towards completing the necessary qualifying requirements.

We are incredibly proud of the growth of biathlon at Penryn and the way our athletes are embracing this exciting sporting opportunity. What started with one athlete is growing into a programme with real momentum, and we look forward to seeing even more Penryn athletes take up the challenge in the seasons ahead.

Congratulations to our Grade 11 scholars and 1st Team Girls Cricket players, Macayle Eisen and Sasha Mashile, who have been selected for the final round of the U19 Mpumalanga Cricket Trials.

The final trials will take place at Cambridge Academy in eMalahleni on 5 October, giving both players the opportunity to take the next step in their cricket journey and compete for provincial selection.

We wish Macayle and Sasha the very best as they take on this exciting next challenge. We’ll be cheering you on.

Murunwa Nemavhidi finishes 2nd at Lowveld Slam

Murunwa Nemavhidi produced an impressive run at the Mpumalanga Lowveld Slam Tournament at Mbombela Tennis Club from 18–20 September.

Competing in the U18 Girls category while still in Grade 8, Murunwa battled through a series of demanding matches to reach the final, ultimately finishing in 2nd place.

Her performance reflects the determination, discipline and competitive spirit that continues to drive her development on court.

A strong showing against older competition and another valuable step in Murunwa’s journey.

Our Junior Prep scholars celebrated Heritage Day by proudly wearing clothing that represents their heritage and culture.

The school was filled with colour, tradition and stories, as our scholars had the opportunity to share a little more about what makes their heritage special. From traditional attire, to meaningful cultural details, each outfit was a reflection of identity, family and belonging.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our young scholars to celebrate the different cultures that make up our community, and to learn from one another along the way.

It was a celebration of where we come from, who we are and what makes us unique.
