SASCO STATEMENT ON ALLEGATIONS RELATED TO GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

Revolutionary greetings and salutations to all foot-soldiers, members, sympathisers of the Students' Congress (SASCO), and the entire UMP student population.

As SASCO, we are disheartened by the continuous killings that are currently taking place across the country, as women are subjected to living in fear of their own lives being taken away in the most brutal way. SASCO UMP Mbombela Branch takes a clear stand against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) against women and children and considers any action of Human Rights violation as an act of criminality. We unequivocally declare war on GBVF on our campus and call for unity in fighting to put a stop to the spreading pandemic of murdering women in the country.

We ran not just for fitness, but to say: Enough is Enough. Justice for survivors. Stop the killings of women, children and men.

GBV has no place on our campus or in our society.

SASCO UMP Mbombela proudly invites the UMP populace to the 5KM Solidarity Run Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) - a collective call to stand against GBV and build a culture rooted in safety, respect and equality.

Let us raise awareness, support survivors and victims, challenge harmful norms, and speak out against GBV.
