St Monica's Diocesan School A small dynamic school that offers academical and physical education. Registered with ISASA and offers education from Grade 00-12

St Monica's has grown out of St Stephens playschool, which first opened its doors in 1990 in response to community's expressed needs. During 1993 it became clear that the demand for English medium education in Matatiele was such that the existing schools could not cope on their own. The St Stephen playschool community then approached the church authorities with the request to facilitate the openin

g of a school. The church agreed and disused the church of St Monica's in Seymor Street as a site. A board of governors made up of representatives of the local church and parents was constituted. After much work the school opened with 24 children in two classes on the 18th January 1994.

A warm welcome to each and every one of you, current, and especially new learners. At last. We believe that students will throw themselves into their education and make the most of the opportunity that they are offered by their parents. We trust that 2022 will be a year to remember!

On Wednesday 01 September, the school celebrated spring day and learners as well as staff were happy to be rid of their winter clothing.

We did not have our usual spring day celebrations, due to Covid-19, nevertheless the learners enjoyed the warmer weather.

September the first is also Secretaries day and the school secretaries were treated to gifts and eats to acknowledge all the hard work that they put in to ensure the school runs efficiently.

Schools will reopen on June 1, 2020.

Only Grade 7 & 12 will be returning, staff is expected to be back on the 25th of May, 2020.

Hello St Monica’s family
As we continue to follow the President’s order and command, please stay at home, continue to practice personal hygiene & wash hands at least 10 times a day and if you have to work or be in public keep your 1m distance from other people.

Remember if you have cough/sneezing you need a mask to protect yourself & others.

We will be over this very soon, keep praying and staying safe.
