NSFAS Communiqué
10 October 2019

Dear students

REFUNDS TO NSFAS STUDENTS WHO PAID UPFRONT REGISTRATION DEPOSITS

The University has taken a decision to refund all 2019 confirmed NSFAS funded students who paid the upfront registration fees. This is in line with the NSFAS and DHET guidelines for students who were approved for NSFAS funding.

Any student who have paid the R1 500 registration or R1 200 residence deposits may report to any of the local Financial Aid Offices (FAO’s) to complete the necessary documentation. Applications for refunds will only be accepted until 25 October 2019, and will be paid in cash through the Fundi card system to the depositor before 15 December 2019.

As a people’s university, we are empathetic towards the plight of students who come from poor families who cannot afford higher education fees, hence it is important for TUT to refund and assist NSFAS funded students to continue their studies.

TUT SRC Election Day a Success

6 September 2019

SRC elections were successfully held across the campuses of the Tshwane University of Technology in Tshwane, Soshanguve, Ga-Rankuwa, Mbombela, Polokwane and eMalahleni yesterday, 5 September. Throughout the day, the mood was one of vibrant enthusiasm for the elections. The elections were held from 09:00 to 21:00, with a steady flow of voters moving into the voting stations. Observers were present at each voting station, ensuring that the process was free and fair.

At the start of the day everything was in place for eligible voters to vote at the 14 voting stations across the six TUT campuses. Voting took place peacefully. The election was managed by KDBS, a company with a solid track record in managing elections of this nature. Counting at each station have already started after voting closed at 21:00 last night.

The University is pleased that the rigorous preparations resulted in a smooth electoral process. Provisional results will be announced on Friday, 6 September 2019 and the final results on Tuesday, 10 September 2019.
