AWANDE MNDEBELE
I wipe my tears as they covering my father's grave. The only person that mattered to me is gone and I'm all alone. The funeral was not what I wanted for my father but he had nothing. All thanks to Umalume Siyabonga for pulling through and helped. If it wasn't for him I wasn't going to be able to bury my father.
I got inside the car and we drove back to the family house not far from the graveyard maybe a thirty minutes drive. He stops right in front of the gate and I step out immediately. A deep fronw form as i see ladies approaching me with plastic bags.
Awande:What's going on here?
I whispered to myself as Aunty Nthabiseng threw the bags at me followed by Aunty Dikeledi
Nthabiseng: Ufile ubabakho sicela usiphumele lana!( your father is dead please leave!)
Dikeledi:yes or ubhadale irent la ekhaya akuna into ya mahala!(yes or you should pay rent there's nothing for free!)
I swallowed a huge lump forming on ny throat. My dad hasn't turned to borns yet but im already getting this kind of treatment? I keep wiping my tears that are coming out willingly, where will I go?
:woza asambe Awande(come let's go Awande!)
I turned it was my best friend's mother,my best friend took the plastic bags and the scattered papers.
Awande:Can I take the rest of my documents?
Nthabiseng:yenza fast and get the hell out of here
I walked back to the house and packed the rest of my clothes and documents. I took my father's documents,if they thought they'll claim using my dad's documents they got another thing coming. I found a box near my father's documents and I took it,let me take my favourite shirts I packed about five and took our pictures and walked out.
You should have see the neighbours, standing there watching everything,I chuckled as tears came out. Malume Mfundo was just looking at the whole situation unfolds,he is a quiet person but at least he should have said something.
I'm Awande Mndebele,a 17y/o doing my matric. I'm a younger version of my so called mom and I really hate how I look. I'm just a total reminder of how my mother treated my father and I to a point where she threw us out to the streets but we're not there right please hold hands with me as I walk in this journey of finding love and pain.
