uBambiswano is a well-respected Saturday School programme in service of Black South African students from disadvantaged communities in Daveyton and Etwatwa.

Our students joined St Andrew's School for Girls Heritage Day celebration. They rocked up representing their cultures and were immersed in a variety of activities that was celebrating the diversity of our community.

TOP 10 x 3! 📚✨

Today, uBambiswano walked into St John’s College for the Phendulani Literacy Quiz — and walked out having made history for us.

For months, our learners showed up on Saturdays, giving up their free time to read, debate and prepare, led with so much heart by Ms Lineo Fumanisa with the support of Ms Tsholo Mhlanga.

Result? All three of our teams finished in the Top 10 out of 21 schools.

For a Saturday programme competing against daily schools, this is massive. It’s proof of what passion, teamwork and love for books can do.

We could not be prouder. Halala, Bambi Readers! 👏

1. What will you remember the most about uBambiswano?
I'll remember the sense of community the most. Everyone looked out for each other, and I learned how to work well with people.

2. How has uBambiswano helped you grow?
uBambiswano helped me grow in confidence and responsibility. It also taught me discipline.

3. Who has inspired or supported you the most during your journey?
My teachers have supported me the most. They pushed me to do my best and always believed in me, especially Ma'am Jolene.

4. What advice would you give to a new uBambiswano learner?
Stay committed, and don't be afraid of making mistakes because that's how we learn and grow.

5. What are your hopes and dreams for the future?
My hope is to keep doing well in school. I want to build a good future for my family and become a successful person.

I will always remember the help and support of the teachers who guided me throughout my journey.

uBambiswano has helped me by teaching me new things, opening opportunities for me to continue learning, and encouraging me to do better and work harder.

My mom, my grandmother, and my teachers have supported and guided me throughout my journey, and I am grateful to all of them.

My hopes and dreams are to achieve my goals, succeed in life, and become the best person I can be.

1. What will you remember the most about uBambiswano?
What I'll remember most about uBambiswano is that it really felt like a second home. I'll always remember the friends I made and all the laughs we shared.

2. How has uBambiswano helped you grow?
uBambiswano helped me grow into a more confident, kind, and responsible person. It taught me to believe in myself, to keep going even when things get tough, and not to be afraid to dream big.

3. Who has inspired or supported you the most during your journey?
My family has always been my biggest support—they never stopped believing in me. I'm also grateful for my teachers and friends who encouraged me, helped me through challenges, and made my school life so much better.

4. What advice would you give to a new uBambiswano learner?
Just be yourself. Get involved, make friends, work hard, and enjoy every moment because it goes by much faster than you think. One day you'll look back and wish you could do it all over again.

5. What are your hopes and dreams for the future?
I hope to be successful, make my family proud, and build a life that makes a positive difference. I want to keep learning, chase my dreams, and become the best version of myself while staying true to who I am.

Now a high school learner, Asemahle dreams of becoming a midwife, helping bring new life into the world with compassion and care. She hopes to continue her educational journey through Tomorrow Trust, improve her academic performance, and fulfil her dream of serving mothers and babies. 👶🏽💙

1. What will you remember the most about uBambiswano?
I will remember all the helpful lessons that improved my academic results, the fun activities, the educational trips, and the Bible verses we shared.

2. How has uBambiswano helped you grow?
uBambiswano has helped me grow in many ways through the psychological lessons we had. It also helped me grow physically through P.E., improving my fitness and stamina, and gave me the confidence to read aloud during our English lessons.

3. Who has inspired or supported you the most during your journey?
Mrs Tsholo inspired me during our computer lessons to be open-minded, think outside the box, discover new things, and believe in myself through her weekly words of encouragement. My friends have also been a constant source of support, both academically and in my personal life.

4. What advice would you give to a new uBambiswano learner?
Have fun, learn new things, create lasting memories, and surround yourself with supportive friends.

5. What are your hopes and dreams for the future?
I hope to join Tomorrow Trust, improve my academic performance, succeed in my studies, and fulfil my dream of becoming a midwife.
