Here is your word for today: Verse: Isaiah 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God."

These eight words found in the Psalms speak volumes about putting God at the center of our lives.

Be still...

Stop worrying. Calm down. Don't be afraid. Stop trying to figure it out by yourself. Stop trying to make things happen. Slow down. Take a deep breath. Forget the money crunch. Take time out from the pressures at work. Stop striving. Stop talking ... and listen.

Know that I am God...

I know you. I know your needs. Nothing surprises me. I am the Creator of all things. I care about everything that concerns you. I am love. I am peace. I am joy. I am sovereign. I am all-knowing. I am all-powerful. I am eternal. I am faithful. I am merciful. I am gracious. I am the King of kings and Lord of lords. I am your Father, your Daddy. I am the same yesterday, today and forever. I love you with an everlasting love. I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Consider this ...

When we are willing to be still ... and to know that he is God, he will become the center of our lives. And everything else we do will revolve around him and all that he is.

PRAYER: Father, teach me to set aside all my anxieties and fears and "to-do's" and to truly be still before you. Help me to know you better, to begin to grasp your greatness, your love and your mercy. In Jesus' name Amen. Have an awesome Wednesday.

Here is your word for today: Verse: Psalm 146:3 'Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.' - We can be tempted to misplace our trust and look to humans for help. - We may even think that powerful people can open doors for us. - But there is only One who can open a door that no one can shut. - There is only One who has your best interests at heart. PRAYER: Lord, I place my confidence and trust in You and You alone. Help me to be like David, who trusted in You alone and destroyed the giant in the process. In Jesus' Name. Amen. Have an empowered week.

Here is your word for today: Verse: 1Samuel 16:7 'But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”'

- Discrimination against people can creep into our lives without our awareness of what is happening. Sometimes it's such a subtle thing that we don't think anything of it. We might choose one cashier's line over another because of race or dress or general appearance. In church or any public gathering, we may select seats next to people who "look like us."

- Or we might assume that people with power or wealth are unapproachable to anyone not in their league. This too is judgment based on prejudice, not fact.

- People are people. No matter what our skin color, economic status, education or neighborhood. We all want to be loved and respected by other people. We all experience painful times and good times. We all want to be understood.

Have you ever experienced the brunt of discrimination? If so, you understand the hurt it can bring. Ask God to use that experience to teach you to lay aside all prejudice toward others and, when possible, take time getting to know the real person.

Let us ask God to teach us to look at the heart.

PRAYER: Lord, help me remember that people are people. Help me not to look down on anyone or to be intimidated by anyone. You are the great equalizer. Jesus died for every person. Every person needs forgiveness. Every person needs Jesus. In my relationships with others, help me move past the outward appearance and see the heart. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Here is your word for today: Verse: James 5:16 (AMP) 'Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. '

- When we use defenses to hide from the truth of a problem or sin in our life, we build a wall brick by brick. This wall protects us from the truth and provides a secret place for us to hide. Unfortunately, the wall also isolates us from people who can help us.

As long as we continue hiding the truth, no amount of willpower can free us from the issues that master us. Hiding can only lead to a downward spiral from cover-up to relapse and despair.

God is our source of help, but he often chooses to help us through other people. The words in today's scripture make it clear that God wants us to share our problems; our faults, our slips, our false steps, our offenses, and our sins; with other believers so that we can pray together. This sharing will lead to healing and restoration.

Truth brings freedom. If you've been hiding a problem, a sin, be encouraged to stop hiding and open your life to God. Stop isolating yourself; find Christian people who will love and care for you unconditionally. Be honest with them and ask them to pray with you. When the cycle of cover-up, relapse and despair is broken, the result will be spiritual freedom in Christ.

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for giving me believing friends who really care about me. I've been walking around with a wall between me and them, pretending as though everything is OK when it isn't. Help me to be honest. Show me who you would have me talk to. Help me to be courageous enough to share my troubles with them so that they will pray for me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Enjoy your weekend.

Here is your word for today: Verse: James 2:8-9 "If indeed you [really] fulfill the royal Law in accordance with the Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as [you love] yourself, you do well. But if you show servile regard (prejudice, favoritism) for people, you commit sin and are rebuked and convicted by the Law as violators and offenders."

- Most of us tend to prejudge people on the basis of how they dress, what their family members are like, stereotypes built by the media of particular ethnic groups, and on many other superficial and erroneous grounds.

There is a danger in rejecting or misjudging someone because they are different from us. First of all, the Bible tells us that prejudice is a sin, one that blocks our ability to love others as we should.

We could even miss a blessing from God by rejecting strangers due to prejudice. This was the mistake that the people of Jesus' time on earth made when they rejected him as the promised Messiah and King. Because Jesus did not come in the way they expected, they crucified him.

We can also miss an opportunity to bless others; maybe even an opportunity to help them find Jesus; when we allow these invisible walls of prejudice; even subtle ones; to build.

Ask God to help you see the walls you have built and to begin removing those barriers between you and others. Ask him to help you begin to look on the inside and see people as he does. Only then can the love of Jesus flow freely through you to everyone he brings your way.

PRAYER: Father, I do want the love of Jesus to flow freely through me to every person. Forgive me for sometimes blocking this flow by judging others by outward appearances. Help me see each individual as you do and respond to them with your love. In Jesus' name. Amen. Have a great Thursday.

Here is your word for today: Verse: Jude 1:24 'Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy' - There is One who can keep and preserve you from falling. - He is the lover of your soul. - His desire for your life is that you would walk without stumbling, take hold of His hand if you are. - Jesus died so that you would stand before His glory, faultless and blameless... Don't look to what you may have done but look ahead to the cross in faith! PRAYER: Lord, You are my sustainer and the One who can lift me up and keep my feet on the path. May I keep my eyes fixed on You and Your glory and receive what You have laid out for me, in FAITH. Help me I pray. In Jesus' Name. Amen. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Here is your word for today: Verse: 2 Thessalonians 3:3 'But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and keep you safe from the evil one.' - This is a reassuring scripture. - Thank the Lord for His faithfulness to you. - He strengthens and keeps us. - That's our God! PRAYER: Lord, I entrust my life to You for this new day. You are the one who strengthens and keeps me. I thank You for Your faithfulness to me. In Jesus' Name. Amen. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
