KUDOS CAREER CORNER | INTERVIEW TIP

At the end of an interview, you may hear:
“Do you have any questions for us?”

This isn't necessarily the time to quickly say “No” and head for the door. 😅
Having one or two thoughtful questions prepared can show that you've thought seriously about the opportunity.

You could ask about the role, the team, what skills are important or what you could expect to learn.

💡 Remember: an interview isn't only about an employer getting to know you. It's also an opportunity for you to understand the role and workplace better.

Sometimes you discover your strengths by trying something new, learning a skill or being given an opportunity you never expected.

You might discover that you're great with people.
That you're a natural leader.
That you enjoy practical work.
Or that you're capable of something you never considered before.

Sometimes your first opportunity is simply where you begin discovering:
What you're good at.
What you enjoy.
What you still need to learn.
And where you'd like to go next.

Every experience can teach you something that you take into the next chapter.

“What can you bring to our team?”

If you're asked this during an interview, don't panic.

The employer isn't expecting you to be perfect. They want to understand the value you could bring to their workplace.

Think about:
✔ What are you good at?
✔ What skills have you developed?
✔ Are you reliable?
✔ Do you work well with others?
✔ Are you willing to learn?
✔ What kind of attitude would you bring to the workplace?

💡 Don't only tell them what you WANT from the job. Explain what YOU can contribute too.

Soft skills are the everyday abilities that influence how you communicate, solve problems, manage your time and work with other people.

Think:
🤝 Teamwork
💬 Communication
⏰ Time management
💡 Problem-solving
🌱 Adaptability

The good news? These aren't skills you're simply born with.
They can be developed.

Every classroom project, practical session and workplace experience gives you opportunities to practise them.

You don't need to know everything before you start learning.

You don't need years of experience before you start gaining experience.

And you don't need to feel completely confident before you take your first step.

Sometimes confidence is something you build along the way.

🎓 Start where you are. Learn what you can. Keep developing.

Your first step doesn't need to be perfect — it just needs to move you forward.

More than you might realise.
