STOP!! Seriously just stop! Yes it’s an extra two week, but guess what it’s and extra two weeks for all of us. Stop trying to pressure teachers for work, do you understand that teachers also have their own children and families they need to look after? Teachers are also going through a tough time.

Why is everyone running around stressing about their children not having work and missing work. School normally had two weeks in April and three weeks in June and then 10 days in September. Not even to mention all the public holidays in April and May. They are already thinking of taking away weeks in the June and September holiday, they even speak of totally taking those holidays away. So this will be the last “off” time children and teachers will have. So why push them to work in a time where everyone is unsure of the future and worried about their health and safety? Guess what teachers are also worried; they are not the machines people expect them to be. Teachers are going to be the ones who work their butts off and neglect their families to get all the work done, when this is done.

There has been more than one year where schools were closed for longer than this and it wasn’t even for a world pandemic it was for social reasons and everyone including the kids survived. So STOP putting pressure on teachers and stop threatening their salaries .

Have you wondered what will happen when all this is over and teachers decide they are not going back to work because they weren’t paid and realized in this time that they are being treated like they don’t matter? What then? Most people are not coping at home now, how wil you cope then? When this is over and parents go back to work, how will you manage to teach your kids then, if there are no more teachers?

Let the teachers rest and take care of their own families. This might be the last holiday ( and you can’t even call it a holiday) the teachers and the kids will have. So let them be with their families and children. Teachers didn’t cause this, teachers also didn’t ask for this and believe me, teachers do not want this pandemic. They are already up at night worried about their learners and trying to send work and get work to them while managing their own families too. Teachers are super heroes and all you can do is point fingers?!

Take this time to teach your children manners and respect, other things that you never get time to teach them. Spend time loving and caring for them. They are also scared and unsure, they are living history here. Make sure they have a positive memory of this time. I promise you most kids are so excited to have their parents at home with them. Let the Teachers be. They are human beings too.

Copy and paste to your wall if you are a teacher or support teachers.
