Nobody taught me this: if a deadline is at risk, communicate early.

The worst time to tell someone you are going to miss a deadline is on the day the work is due.

If you can already see that a deadline may slip, raise the risk early.

Don’t just say:

“I’m not going to make it.”

Give context and options.

Explain what changed, what has already been completed, and what choices are available.

Can the scope change?
Can someone help?
Can the deadline move?
Should another priority move instead?

Missing a deadline is sometimes unavoidable.

Surprising people at the last minute usually is not.

Professionalism is not pretending everything is fine.

It is communicating early enough for people to do something about it.

Business Analyst or Project Manager — which one sounds more like you?

These two roles often work side by side on the same project, but their focus is very different.

A Business Analyst helps define the right solution by understanding the problem, requirements, processes and stakeholder needs.

A Project Manager helps organise delivery by coordinating the work, managing timelines, risks and responsibilities, and keeping the project on track.

A simple way to remember it:

BA = right solution
PM = organised delivery

Being literate in 2026 means more than being able to read and write.

A little behind the scenes at CyberTED.

People often see the finished course, but not the work that goes into making sure the content is actually clear, useful and practical.

When I review a lesson, I keep asking:

Is this clear?
Is this useful?
Will the learner understand how to apply it?

If the answer is no, I rewrite it.

I want CyberTED learners to feel that somebody genuinely cared whether they understood the lesson — not simply whether the content was uploaded.

That is the standard I’m building CyberTED around.

Nobody taught many of us how to say “I don’t know” professionally.

But pretending to know something when you don’t can damage your credibility far more than admitting you need to check.

A better response:

“I don’t have the answer to that yet. Let me confirm it and come back to you by [time].”

You’re being honest, taking ownership and giving the person a clear expectation.

Professional confidence isn’t knowing everything. It’s knowing how to respond when you don’t.
