Samkelisiwe’s journey is a powerful example of how education, determination and taking opportunities can transform lives. After graduating from Mnambithi TVET College in 2019 with a qualification in Public Management, she has continued to grow and build a successful career in public service.

Samkelisiwe choose Mnambithi TVET College because she wanted to study Public Management which aligned with her career goals and allowed her to gain knowledge and skills relevant to her future career. She describes her experience at the College as a positive one, Highlighting the opportunity to learn, develop career-related skills and grow personally. Her advice to student is to work hard, stay focus and surround themselves with people who want to see them succeed.
After graduating, Samkelisiwe secured a 24-months internship at the Department of Education in 2020.

Her perseverance eventually led to a major milestone when she secured permanent position at the Department of home Affairs in August 2022, where she currently works as an Immigration officer. She is especially proud of achieving permanent employment and being able to use her qualification to build a better life for herself, her children and her family
Looking ahead, Samkelisiwe hopes to continue growing in her career, take on greater responsibilities and further her studies in Public Management.

She encourages current student to make the most of their time at College by attending classes, working hard, applying for opportunities and never give up. As she puts it, “uzoyithola kanjani uhleli ekhoneni?”- you cannot achieve your goals by simply sitting and waiting.

Samkelisiwe also expresses her gratitude to her former lecturers for their knowledge, guidance and encouragement, saying their support helped shapes the person she is today. Her story reminds us that education can open doors, but determination and action are what help us walk through them. Mnambithi TVET College is proud to have been part of her journey and celebrates her continued success.

Mnambithi TVET College successfully hosted its second-semester induction sessions for the 2026 academic year. While these sessions aimed to integrate fresh minds into the tertiary space, this particular rollout marked a significant moment in the institution's history. This semester represents the final registration window for the traditional NATED (Report 191) programs.

From the 20th -23rd July the college hosted inductions for our 3 campuses namely EZakheni A Campus, EStcourt Campus and Ladysmith Campus. The Inductions kicked off with strong attendances focusing on setting high academic standards and introducing students to the campus infrastructures, Students were given comprehensive briefings regarding curriculum structures, workshop safety guidelines and campus rules. Ms. Mpangase (DP: Academic Services) emphasized the importance of self-discipline, hard work and dedication as she was welcoming our new students to the college. Followed by Ms. R. Khumalo (AD: SSS) who spoke on the acceptable behaviour from Mnambithi TVET College, WIL process and Placement Process. SLO’s also touched on the code of conduct that students must adhere to as well as extracurricular activities available for students. Lecturers and administration stuff also welcomed new students, explaining some of the services they render to assist students settle well in the campuses.

Campus leadership used the platform to deliver a critical message to the newly registered students: they are officially the last cohort to be walked through the NATED curriculum. For decades, Report 191 programs have been the backbone of technical vocational training. However, this intake represents the absolute final opportunity for students to complete their qualifications under this legacy framework. Students were urged to take their studies seriously, avoid unnecessary delays, and pass their modules on the first attempt to graduate seamlessly before the old system completely phases out.

The reason behind this hard cut-off is the upcoming national shift in vocational education. Starting next year, in 2027, Mnambithi TVET College will fully transition to the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) programs. The upcoming QCTO programs are modern, occupational qualifications designed to align directly with modern industry demands. They place a heavier emphasis on practical work-integrated learning, workplace experience, and updated technical skills. While the college prepares its infrastructure and staff for this massive transition next year, the current focus remains on ensuring that this final NATED intake receives the highest standard of academic support to complete their journey successfully.
