🌟 KUILIES GOT TALENT: MEET PHIL ROBINSON 🌟

We are thrilled to introduce Phil Robinson — distinguished choral conductor, educator, vocal coach and passionate advocate for youth development through music. 🎭🎶

🏆 Artistic Director & Conductor of the internationally acclaimed South African Youth Choir since 2013, Phil has helped shape young voices into a globally recognised symbol of excellence, versatility and cultural pride.

🎓 A proud De Kuilen Primary School alumnus, Phil holds a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences from Stellenbosch University and has an impressive background as a performer, lecturer and adjudicator.

🌟 He has lectured in voice at the University of the Western Cape, served as an adjudicator at numerous singing and choral competitions, and is regularly invited as an external examiner and guest speaker.

🏆 Among his many achievements, Phil directed the acclaimed Naledi – An African Journey and led the South African Youth Choir to a historic clean sweep at the ATKV Animato International Choral Competition.

🎤 With his wealth of experience, passion for young talent and keen artistic eye, we are honoured to have Phil Robinson join our judging panel!

We are currently in the process of building and expanding our school archive, and we would greatly appreciate the assistance of past and present staff members, parents and learners.

We are looking for items that will help us preserve and showcase the proud history and heritage of De Kuilen Primary School, including:

* School magazines and newsletters (such as De Kuiltjie)
* Yearbooks
* Photographs
* Rugby jerseys
* Athletics, netball and cricket shirts
* School blazers
* Newspaper articles and cuttings
* Historical documents, memorabilia and any other school-related items

Every contribution, no matter how small, can help us tell the story of our school’s rich heritage and traditions.

What an incredible week of stories, imagination and creativity at De Kuilen Primary School! 💚💛

Our corridors and classrooms were transformed into magical worlds, with learners and teachers bringing some of our favourite books and characters to life. From creative costumes to spectacular classroom doors and displays, every corner celebrated the joy and wonder of reading. 📖🧙‍♀️🐻🌈

A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers and enthusiastic learners for making Book Week so special. Your creativity and love for books truly made this week one to remember! 💚💛

🎬KUILIES GOT TALENT: MEET AYDEN CROY 🎭

We are excited to introduce Ayden Croy, a talented South African actor, storyteller and performer whose passion for the arts has seen him make a remarkable impact on both stage and screen.

🎓 Qualifications
Ayden completed his degree in Theatre and Performance, Film and Television Studies, and Industrial Sociology at the University of Cape Town in 2020.

🌟 Acting Career
Ayden has brought a wide range of memorable characters to life in South African television and film. Audiences may recognise him as:

🎭 Archie in Melody
🎭 Earl Talmakkies in Suidooster
🎭 Zaid in A Twisted Christmas
🎭 Francois Le Fleur in Signal High
🎭 Steven in Die Byl
🎭 Xander du Plessis in Arendsvlei
🎭 Kevin Lucas in The Lioness Season 2
🎭 Johan “Hantjie” Jansen in Old Righteous Blues
🎭 Elroy in Bankvas

His impressive portfolio also includes numerous feature films, short films and theatre productions, with performances at festivals such as the Suidoosterfees and the National Arts Festival.

Ayden’s outstanding performance in Old Righteous Blues earned him industry recognition with nominations for:

🏆 SAFTA 19 – Best Actor in a Feature Film
🏆 2024 National Film & Television Awards South Africa – Best Actor

In addition to his screen work, Ayden has built a strong foundation in theatre through productions such as Ballroom boy, Kanna Hy Ko huistoe, Joanie Galant hulle and Onder die brug. His stage experience reflects his dedication to storytelling and character development.

Our learners were delighted to welcome Siphokazi Jonas, an award-winning South African author, poet and performer, as we celebrate the joy and power of reading! 🇿🇦📖

Siphokazi shared her love of storytelling and introduced learners to her newly released children’s book, Oli and the Island of Intsomi — a magical adventure celebrating stories, identity, courage and the power of finding your voice.

What a wonderful way to inspire our young readers to read, imagine and discover the stories within them! ❤️

🌟 KUILIES GOT TALENT: MEET ANGELIQUE FILTER 🌟

We are incredibly proud to introduce Angelique Filter — a multi-award-winning theatre-maker, actor, clown and facilitator! 🎭✨

🎓 Qualifications
Angelique graduated Cum Laude from Stellenbosch University in 2024 with a BA Honours in Drama & Theatre Studies.

🏆 Achievements
In 2023, she won the Stellenbosch University Drama Department’s Première Theatre Festival with her original production The Old Man Who Thought He Had a Dog, which she wrote, directed and performed in. The production later earned her a Kanna Award for Best Upcoming Artist and a Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Most Promising Student.

She also co-created the award-winning children’s production Grommels, which received:
🏆 Kanna Award – Best Children’s Theatre Production (2025)
🏆 Ovation Award – National Arts Festival
🏆 kykNET Fiësta Award – Best Achievement in Children’s & Youth Theatre

🎙️ Angelique also works as a performer, director, facilitator and voice actor, including dubbing in German, English and Afrikaans.

💛 Passionate about creating playful, immersive worlds, Angelique is currently touring Grommels, bringing the character Geelgrommel to life, while continuing her voice-acting work.

And when she’s not on stage, you’ll most likely find her in the mountains — her happy place! ⛰️🌿
