The Alma Mater Gravity Racing Challenge 2026 brought schools together for an action-packed downhill racing experience where student-built cars battled it out on a 650 m course — powered by nothing but gravity, engineering and teamwork.

From designing and building their racers to scrutineering, practice runs, qualifying and the final races, teams put their STEM skills — and their nerves — to the ultimate test.

Some beautiful things are incredibly hard to say goodbye to.

We watched our Matrics take one last leap as school pupils — and suddenly, years of memories, laughter, friendships and growing up feel very real.

It has been an enormous privilege to teach them, encourage them and watch them become the young adults they are today. We’d keep them here if we could… but they’re ready for the world beyond our gates.

Wishing each of you the very best of luck with the final exams. Trust your preparation, give it everything you’ve got, and make yourselves proud.

We will miss you more than you know, but we cannot wait to see where life takes you and the remarkable, successful adults you will become.
