Friendly Awareness During Holiday’s.
Keep Their Minds Growing This Holiday 📚
Holidays are for rest — but a child's brain doesn't need a full stop. Just 20–30 minutes a day keeps skills sharp and prevents laziness, teachers dread every new term.
5 Things Every Parent Should Enforce at Home:
1. Daily Reading, No Excuses — Even 15 minutes builds comprehension and imagination. Let kids pick their own books; interest drives retention more than difficulty level.
2. One New Word a Day — Vocabulary compounds. A child who learns 5 new words a week gains 250+ words a year — words they'll use in essays, conversations, and exams.
3. Writing Isn't Just Homework — A journal entry, a letter to a grandparent, a story about their day. Writing regularly keeps the writing "muscle" from going stiff when school resumes.
4. Talk, Don't Just Instruct — Ask open-ended questions ("What did you think about that book?" not "Did you like it?"). This builds critical thinking, not just recall.
5. Model It Yourself — Children mimic what they see. A parent reading a newspaper or book signals that learning isn't just a school activity — it's a lifestyle.
Insight: Structure doesn't kill fun — it protects it. Kids with light daily routines during breaks return to school more confident, not more tired.
