📅 This Week at Calling

🧭 ACSI Principals Conference:
Last week, Mr Botha attended the ACSI Principals Conference in Durban. It was once again an amazing opportunity for growth, encouragement, and networking with other Christian schools and their leadership. 🙏

📝 Exams in Full Swing:
The mid-year exams are well underway. Feedback from teachers indicates that results so far are mixed. Parents are encouraged to please ensure that students put in the necessary effort to prepare well. Please also check that they have the correct stationery, including calculators where needed. 📚

📵 Important Cellphone Reminder:
A firm reminder that cellphones are NOT allowed on school premises — not before, during, or after school. Phones may be handed in at the office and collected once the exam is over, but must then be put away while students wait for transport. This is a school rule and must be followed.

🏃 Cross Country:
Four of our Cross Country athletes will compete in Parys tomorrow, accompanied by Mrs Judy-Lee Aucamp. We wish them all the best as they represent Calling! 💪

We are proud to announce that Rorisang Chopo, a Grade 10 learner, has been selected to be part of the Free State provincial chess team! 🏆👏

💼📊 Exploring Careers in Accounting 📊💼

Norval and Company Incorporated recently visited Calling Academy Kroonstad to speak with our Grade 10 and Grade 11 learners about careers in Accounting and becoming a Chartered Accountant.

Learners gained valuable insight into what accountants actually do, different career pathways within the field, and practical advice for the future. One key takeaway was the possibility of studying online while working, helping to shorten the journey toward becoming a qualified accountant. 🎓💻

The team also emphasised the importance of ensuring that institutions are SAICA registered before enrolling, as this is essential for professional registration and career progression.

We are grateful for opportunities like these that help our learners make informed decisions about their futures. 🧡🤍❤️

📝 Formal Assessments:
Our Grade 12 students completed their Tourism PAT assessment this week, while various other formal assessments were also conducted across the school. Well done to our learners for their effort and commitment!

📚 Mid-Year Exams Approaching:
There is only one week of academic classes left before the mid-year examinations begin on Monday, 1 June. Students, please ensure that your work is up to date and that you are preparing thoroughly. Study hard, ask for help where needed, and give your best! 💪

🙏 Board Meeting:
Our Calling Education Board Meeting takes place this afternoon. We ask our Calling Family to please keep this important meeting in prayer.

Congratulations to Unathi Mathebula, Rorisang Chopo, and Khwakanya Mbaduli, who have been selected for the Fezile Dabi Chess Team! They will compete in a tournament in Frankfort tomorrow, accompanied by Mr Muzenya. We are extremely proud of you! 🌟

🏹 Archery Competition:
Tomorrow, our archers will compete in the local TRIO Archery Competition, accompanied by Mr Martin Botha. We wish them all the very best as they represent Calling! 🎯

🎤✨ Public Speaking & Debate Success ✨🎤

On Saturday, our junior and senior public speaking and debate teams participated in competitions and represented Calling Academy Kroonstad with confidence and excellence. 💙

Our senior debate team (Anathi Mdungelo, Diteboho Leeuw and Kamohelo Molotsi) won their rounds, showcasing strong argument formation, critical thinking, and excellent team cohesion. 👏🔥

Special congratulations to:
🏆 Naledi Seeco for winning her round in the Senior Impromptu Speech category
🥉 Kgalalelo Chiliza for achieving 3rd place in the Junior Prepared Speech category

Our junior debate teams also had the opportunity to debate against each other after other schools were unable to field junior teams, turning the experience into a valuable learning opportunity. 🌱

📝 Formal Assessments:
This week, our Grade 10–12 students wrote their English, Sesotho, and Afrikaans Paper 3 exams. Various other formal assessments also took place across the grades. Well done to our learners for their effort and focus.

📚 Exam Preparation:
There are only two weeks of academic classes left before the June exams begin. Students are encouraged to stay up to date, complete all work, attend extra classes where needed, and start preparing well for the mid-year exams. Let’s finish this part of the term strong! 💪

✝️ Ascension Day:
On Thursday, we celebrated Ascension Day, remembering the victory, authority, and promise of Jesus Christ. May this truth continue to encourage our Calling Family. 🙏

💰✨ Last week Friday, Capitec Bank visited Calling Academy Kroonstad to present a financial literacy workshop to our Grade 8 and Grade 11 learners.

The team shared valuable financial wisdom, practical tips, and important dos and don’ts around money management and financial responsibility. 📚💡
