A traditional compass has 32 points, with each point representing 11.25 degrees (1/32 of a 360° circle). These points include the main Cardinal (N, E, S, W) and Intercardinal (NE, SE, SW, NW) directions, plus numerous intermediate points like NNE, ESE, and North by East (NNE) to offer finer direction details for navigation, historically known as "boxing the compass".
