What a beautifully colourful Nativity Play we had this year!! It was such a bitter-sweet occasion for me, I have no words to express the joy (on so many levels) that all of my little Sunbirds over the years have brought me. It was lovely to have a few of my older children at the concert and to be given a gloriously happy-making sunflower by each of the precious children there. I'm blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time with each one the children that have walked through my door over the years.

I just love this fishing sequence! A clearly experienced little fisherman attracted an admirer and proceeded to share a few tips on the art of fishing. What a joy to listen to!!

We're learning all about the sea at school and had a wonderful, although slightly windy, outing to Coney Glen to experience the delights of the sea and shore. I struggled to even edit the pics of the bridge walking... gives me the shivers...! Thanks to all the helpful adults that came along...
I pushed 'publish' before i had finished writing the post!!! I just want to say a BIG thank you to Sally for arranging this incredibly heart warming experience for both the children and the aged. Thanks also to Suzie , and I'm seriously considering going to do our dress rehearsal for end of year concert at Amble Ridge. I love what one of the children said to me as we were walking towards my car after the visit "You know Kimmie, Old People are actually really cool" This was said by a child who was quite nervous before going in and had told me that she wants to "stay next to me and I'm not going to sing!" and went on to become very touched by the special time she spent reading, drawing and singing with her new friend.

I had such a special outing with the Grade Rs and Suzie on Thursday. This was arranged by Sally who does weekly OT with a group of clients at the Amble Ridge Old age home. The children performed a few songs all around the theme of weather and particularly rain! We sang songs in 3 different languages and did an interactive 'Hokey Pokey' with the oldies.

Wonderful water

The heavy rains last week brought some litter down from further up the stream. We're lucky to have adventurous boys who got into tight spaces to help collect the rubbish. As we moved further down the stream we came across a whole new area of play down at the bottom. Mud, glorious mud!!

It's been too long since I've posted some photos of what we've been up to at school! We started the term with the theme Transport. The children did some wonderful activities and they especially enjoyed boat making. A group of older children worked on a 3 day project building a coracle, which is one of the earliest recorded boats. They made a frame and sewed canvas onto it, the canvas was then sealed by painting it with glue which dried hard. We all took the coracles down to the stream and all the children made some bark rafts with sails. Such fun!!
