Get ready for the ultimate farm adventure!
Join us at Camp BoomeRang, nestled in the heart of our stunning organic macadamia farm just outside Knysna.

For 3 unforgettable nights and 2 action-packed days, kids will immerse themselves in the wonders of organic farming, harvesting nuts by hand, and cracking them open to reveal the tasty treasure inside! Plus - they'll also get to milk cows by hand, hike through the enchanting Knysna forest where Fiele se Kind was set, and explore the historic alluvial gold mines in the mountains. And when they're not exploring, they'll be getting creative in the kitchen, learning to make delicious butter, cheese, bread, and more!

We also have horses, sheep, ducks, chickens, dogs and cats to enjoy.

THE BOOMERANG CONCEPT, is a fun, work-exchange experience on an organic macadamia farm. We grow and farm organically, harvest by hand and process all our own nuts. We also create a full range of products called "Everything Macadamia".

We believe, what goes around, comes around and as such we would like to be able to give amazing life-skills opportunities to travellers and gap year students, in exchange for their help to harvest the nuts and run the farm. We want to help grow friendships, encourage teamwork, nurture minds on need of direction and simply offer a unique working experience.

• Work Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm.
• General assistance with harvesting of nuts, dehusking, sorting, weighing and bagging.
• Additional chores such as gardening, grooming ponies, fixing fences, painting, chopping wood, meal prep.
• Ideal candidates to be between the age of 16 and 24 male or female welcome.
• The BoomeRang setup is either shared accommodation in our loft (subject to availability) or in tents in our rustic campsite.
• Our loft can sleep 4 people.

WHAT WE PROVIDE
• Accommodation in our loft.
• Breakfast or lunch and dinner (Monday to Friday, Weekends are self catered)

• Saturday is adventure day where we take you out to see the area, swim in the river, head to the beach, hike in the mountains or just relax around the farm.

• An experience to meet fellow travellers, learn about macadamias, vegetable gardens and to simply enjoy the outdoor life.

• A change of scenery and people with a learning experience is a great way to find yourself and discover new interests and skills.

• We also offer additional experiences such as milking cows by hand, learning to make butter, cheese, various types of bread and jams / preserves.

DURATION OF CAMP
The ideal period is two weeks however we are happy to accommodate from 1 week to 4 weeks.

There is no cost to join.
You need to make your own travel arrangements to Knysna.

ABOUT US:
We are a home schooling family with 3 girls. The oldest is a chef and the two younger ones are around, free-range - and "farmified". We would love the idea of our Boomeranges sharing their skills and interests with them (piano, sketching, dancing, painting, photography, video editing etc).

Both Jacques and myself are entrepreneurs. I have a playdough business that is setup on the farm and am also involved in the development, marketing and making of our added value range of products, "Everything Macadamia".

When life gives you tomatoes...
Make TOMATO SOUP.
Homegrown and homemade with fresh tomatoes and herbs out my garden.

2kg tomatoes chopped.
Place in a baking dish and drizzle with olive oil, a sprinkling of salt and peper, 2 teaspoons crished garlic, fresh basil and fresh rosemary.
Roast for 45min at 200°C.
Remove from over and place in a large bowl.
Add 500ml fresh cream.
Whizz it up with a stick blender, add a teaspoon of sugar and adjust the seasoning.
Pour through a sieve into a pot and heat gentle.
Serve with sourdough bread or homemade croutons.

Cleaner and healthier doesnt get easier and cheaper than this...

🌾🌞 Calling all outdoor enthusiasts and education enthusiasts! 🌾🌞

Are you a lover of farm life, the great outdoors, and have a passion for inspiring young minds? We are in search of a dedicated and energetic individual to join our family on our beautiful farm. Not only will you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a unique countryside experience, but you will also be able to share your knowledge and expertise in tutoring Cambridge IGCSE.

At our farm, we cherish the importance of education and believe in providing a well-rounded learning environment for our children. We utilize an online curriculum that is seamlessly coordinated, but we need someone who can go the extra mile to explain, motivate, and help prepare schedules for our teenagers. Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with teenagers are essential for this role.

As a live-in tutor, you will be provided with your very own private, open-plan loft, complete with a private garden, just 200 meters from the main house. This comfortable and cozy accommodation will ensure you have your own space to relax and unwind. Your main responsibility will be spending around 3 to 4 hours a day tutoring our children individually, making sure they receive the attention and support they need.

In exchange for your tutoring assistance, you will receive free accommodation. Additionally, there are opportunities for further remuneration through assisting on the farm. Whether it's manual labor in our orchard and general farm chores or assisting with the preparation of products to sell, there are ways for you to earn additional income. Alternatively, if you work remotely, you can exchange your tutoring work for free accommodation and use your own time to work and earn your own income.

Our ideal candidate is a vibrant and passionate individual who enjoys the great outdoors, has a love for animals, and takes pleasure in going for walks. While it would be wonderful to find someone from a British background or someone who has completed Cambridge IGCSE themselves, we are open to highly academic individuals who are familiar with the Cambridge curriculum. If you possess additional skills such as mountain biking, art, sketching, piano, video editing/CG animation, baking, or cooking, that would be an exciting bonus!

The length of your stay and remuneration can be discussed and tailored based on your skills and availability. We are flexible and eager to find the perfect fit for our farm and family.

A little about us:
We have an organic macadamia farm in the Garden Route, a convenience store right across the road and a short 15min drive into town.
We have 3 kids. (1 adult who is a chef and lives in CT and two teens 14 and 13).
We encourage home education to allow our kids to learn what interests them and to encourage their strengths and interests.
We have 3 ponies, 4 dogs, 4 cats, 3 bunnies, 9 sheep and a few ducks and chickens.
