At St Mary’s, our Senior Primary Orchestra provides our girls with the opportunity to discover the joy of making music together.

Learning an instrument is about so much more than playing notes. It develops discipline, concentration, perseverance, coordination, confidence and a sense of achievement.

Girls discover that progress comes through patience, regular practice and a willingness to keep trying when something feels challenging. They also learn to listen carefully to one another, follow a conductor, keep time, work as a team and understand the importance of their individual contribution to the Orchestra.

Being part of our St Mary’s Orchestra is a wonderful celebration of skills and individual talent, all while experiencing the unique sense of belonging that comes from creating something magical together. 💙🎶

Two of our Senior Primary girls recently participated in the Afrikaans.com "Skilder met woorde" competition. Olivia (Grade 4) and Aarya (Grade 7) had to listen to 15 Afrikaans songs, choose one, and illustrate it.

Aarya placed third in the country with her work depicting "Skepe" by Jo Black.

“I was inspired by the song and translated it into a painting. The ship is seen on the sea but represents the story of the human soul journeying through life. The ocean is our uncertainty, the storms our trials and the distant horizon is the unknown that awaits us. Yet still, the ship sails on.

For faith does not mean that the storm will disappear, it means trusting that God is greater than the storm. When we can no longer see the shore He remains our compass. When the winds change, He remains our direction. And when darkness falls, His light still waits upon the horizon.

We are the ships. Life is the ocean. But God is the one who guides us home.
I was thoroughly captivated by the lyrics of the song and found the experience profoundly rewarding,” says Aarya.

Their art will be on show at the Primary School Art Exhibition, well done girls, we are very proud of you! 💙

Our Grade 10 Journey girls are HOME! What an incredible adventure it’s been – 20 days of hiking with their journey sisters, sharing unforgettable experiences and emotions along the way! They’ve learned to cook, camp, hike and cycle in the great outdoors, with some trying these activities for the very first time.

Welcome back, girls! May the memories you've made stay with you forever. You've shown you're stronger than you ever imagined, and we couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of you! Enjoy the weekend back home with your families! 💚💜💛🩷

Once again, a massive thank you to our two main sponsors of our wonderful annual Golf Day held at Cotswold Downs Golf Course. Debonairs Pizza and Standard Banks contribution towards the day ensured our full field of golfers were well looked after in every way. Our Grade 11 girls have returned from their incredible Leadership Camp at BergVenture where they enjoyed an enriching experience as a Grade.

Braving the chill of the Drakensberg air and the icy trickles of the mountain streams, the girls courageously tackled a range of group activities, including hiking, abseiling, zip lining, tree climbing and raft building. During these activities, they were able to remind each other of the importance of collaborative effort, encouragement and tenacity as the cornerstones of leadership.

As the girls prepare to step into their roles for 2027, the plenary leadership talks provided them with key insights on the responsibilities of leaders, and the time to collaborate on and refine their shared values, ethos and vision for the coming year. 💙
