๐ŸŒธ HELLO SPRING! ๐ŸŒผ

Today our Rainbow Room children came dressed in their beautiful Spring colours as we celebrated the changing of the seasons! ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒฑ

As part of our celebrations, we also collected some wonderful sensory items and plants for our sensory garden. And WOWโ€ฆ our parents completely blew us away with their generosity! ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you so much to every parent who contributed. Your support means so much to us and will help us create an even more exciting, engaging space for our children to explore, learn and grow. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿชดโœจ

Weโ€™re looking forward to sunny days, warmer weather, outdoor adventures and all the wonderful things Spring has in store! โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒธ

Last week, the Twinkles explored our Water theme in lots of fun and different ways! ๐Ÿ’ง

They also learned an important life skill โ€” brushing their teeth! ๐Ÿชฅ๐Ÿฆท

Learning through everyday activities, play and lots of fun! ๐Ÿ’™

The Stars class finished off our Water theme with a fun outdoor activity!

First, they decorated their own water bottle sprinklers with colourful sprinkles. ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ’ง Then they headed outside to water the plants and have some fun! ๐ŸŒฑ

A simple activity with lots of smiles, creativity and learning. ๐Ÿ’™

Our dedicated Rainbow Room teachers spent their Saturday investing in their own learning at a wonderful teacher training session with Africa Reggio Emilia Alliance. ๐Ÿ’›

The team explored different approaches to teaching and were introduced to the beautiful โ€œ100 Languages of Childrenโ€ philosophy, the idea that children have many different ways of expressing themselves, communicating, exploring and understanding the world around them. Through art, movement, play, music, language and so much more, children are given opportunities to express their ideas and make meaning in their own unique ways.

Our teachers also had the opportunity to step into the role of the learner themselves, exploring, experimenting and getting creative! We believe that when our teachers continue to learn and grow, our children benefit too.

A huge thank you to UKZN Edgewood Campus for hosting us, and to Africa Reggio Emilia Alliance for such an inspiring and enriching training experience.

At the Rainbow Room, our Comets learn through exploration, sensory experiences and, most importantly, PLAY! ๐Ÿ’›

From messy play and sensory exploration to developing fine-motor skills and discovering cause and effect, every activity is carefully planned to help our little learners grow in confidence and independence.

Sensory exploration
Creative play
Learning through play
Developing little hands
Building confidence

We love watching our Comets explore their world, one little discovery at a time! ๐Ÿ’›

Our Stars Class had a fantastic group OT lesson with Tarryn, where they explored the T Frame swing through a fun, hands-on activity. The children practised balancing and swinging while carefully placing rings onto a cone โ€” combining movement, focus, and problem-solving into one exciting challenge.

This activity supports the development of important skills including balance, coordination, core strength, body awareness, hand-eye coordination, crossing the midline, and sensory processing. By engaging their bodies and minds through purposeful play, our learners are building confidence, independence, and essential skills for everyday activities.

At Rainbow Room, we believe that therapy and learning should be meaningful, fun, and filled with opportunities to grow! ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’›

As part of their hands-on learning, the children enjoyed a fun sensory activity where they pretended to milk a cow using a latex glove filled with water. With tiny pinpricks in the fingertips, the children were able to squeeze and feel the โ€œmilkโ€ flowing through โ€” creating a fun and realistic farm experience! ๐Ÿฅ›โœจ

Sensory activities like this are a wonderful way to develop fine motor strength, hand coordination, grip control, and sensory awareness, while encouraging imaginative play and connecting learning to real-life experiences.
