The Rainbow Room The Rainbow Room is a special needs preschool that caters for children from 2.5 years to 6 years old.

Our fees include therapy with speech and OT specalists as well as a psychologist. If your child has speech delay, mile tone developmental delay, ASD, SPD, Behavioir disorders or downsyndrome, contact us.

Happy World Teachers’ Day!

Today we celebrate the incredible teachers who pour their hearts, patience, creativity and compassion into every child they teach.

To our amazing Rainbow Room teachers — thank you for the love, dedication and difference you make every single day.

On Saturday, the Rainbow Room team proudly represented our school at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Edgewood Campus as part of the KZN ECD Collaboration Network’s Teacher Development initiative.

Teacher Amber and Teacher Eunice shared their knowledge and resources with fellow educators, contributing to the growth and development of the ECD community. 💛

Meanwhile, the rest of our Rainbow Room team enjoyed an enriching day of professional development, gaining new insights, ideas and inspiration to bring back to the classroom.

This week, our learners are beginning the exciting journey of discovering where some of our favourite dairy foods come from! 🐮

Through sensory play, creative activities, stories, exploration and hands on learning, we will be learning all about cows, dairy farming and the journey from farm to table.

Does your child struggle with eating certain foods? 🍎🥕🥛

Over the last few weeks at Rainbow Room, we have been exploring different foods as part of our learning! We started with fruit, then vegetables and have now moved on to learning about dairy products.

We have used every opportunity to gently expose our children to a variety of foods through sensory play, art, cutting, preparing food and, most importantly, having fun! 🍓🥒🧀

For many children, especially those with sensory sensitivities, trying new foods can feel overwhelming. We believe that food exploration should be fun, relaxed and non-threatening. There is no pressure to eat — every small step is celebrated!

A gentle approach to trying new foods can be:

👃 First, smell it
✋ Then, touch it
👀 Look at and explore it
👅 Give it a little lick
🦷 Take a small bite
😋 Taste it
🥄 And eventually, swallow it!

Remember, it can take many exposures before a child feels comfortable enough to try a new food. Be patient, keep it fun and celebrate every step along the way. 💛

🌸 HELLO SPRING! 🌼

Today our Rainbow Room children came dressed in their beautiful Spring colours as we celebrated the changing of the seasons! 🌈🌱

As part of our celebrations, we also collected some wonderful sensory items and plants for our sensory garden. And WOW… our parents completely blew us away with their generosity! 💚

Thank you so much to every parent who contributed. Your support means so much to us and will help us create an even more exciting, engaging space for our children to explore, learn and grow. 🌿🪴✨

We’re looking forward to sunny days, warmer weather, outdoor adventures and all the wonderful things Spring has in store! ☀️🌸
