After graduating from NWSD in 2023 and spending time lecturing at the school, she took the next step and started her own label, Autumn Leaves Couture.

Today, she’s building her business one client, one dress and one lesson at a time - with a special love for beautiful, intricate beading. ✨

We loved hearing about her journey, the challenges she’s faced and where she hopes to take her brand next.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

The 2026 Gert-Johan Coetzee Fashion Bursary, in partnership with North West School Of Design and Bernina RSA , is officially open for applications! If you have the passion, creativity, and determination to become a fashion designer, this could be the opportunity that changes your future.

What the bursary includes:
🎓 A full 3-year Fashion Design tuition at NWSD, valued at R200,000
💻 A laptop, sponsored by Gert-Johan Coetzee Studios
🧵 A Bernina sewing machine, valued at R14,000
👗 Two annual internship opportunities at Gert-Johan Coetzee Studios

How to apply:
1. Follow North West School Of Design Gert-Johan Coetzee & Bernina RSA
2. Complete the online application form.
3. Upload a short video (maximum 1 minute 30 seconds) introducing yourself and answering:
”If you could tell any story through fashion, what story would you tell, and why?”
4. Post your video on TikTok or Instagram, tag North West School Of Design and Gert-Johan Coetzee , with the hashtag:
