​This week in Grade R, we tackled a BIG topic in a super fun way: Emotions! 🧠✨
​To learn what happiness actually feels like, our little stars had a special mission: share something that fills their heart with joy! We were treated to a parade of favorite dolls, speed-demon race cars, cozy cuddly toys, and so many heartwarming stories. 🏎️🪆

​Learning to name and share feelings builds real emotional intelligence, confidence, and empathy, one cuddly hug and zoom-zoom car at a time! ❤️

🍎🍌🍇 Fruit Salad Fun in Grade R! 🥭🍊🥕

Today our Grade R learners rolled up their sleeves and made their very own fruit salad under the caring eyes of Aunty Tiffany and Aunty Noma.
The classroom was bursting with colour as the children explored a variety of fruits! Cutting, mixing, and tasting their healthy creations 🌈👩🏾‍🍳💖.
This hands‑on activity ties beautifully into our weekly theme of Fruits, Vegetables & Healthy Eating 🌱✨.
What a joyful way to learn about making healthy choices while enjoying the delicious results! 🍍🍓🍏💖

​We had an absolute whirlwind of a week in Grade R! Between all of our big thinking and hardworking classroom moments, we squeezed in some seriously fun sensory magic. Turn up your volume for a little sneak peek at one of last week's favorite highlights: exploring our Sense of Sound! 👂✨

​Our lesson started with listening closely to the exciting pop-pop-pop of fresh popcorn kernels, followed by a delicious snack. Then, the real creativity began! Our learners used the leftover kernels, empty toilet rolls, paper, and tape to craft their very own musical instruments. Didn't they do an amazing job?

​💡 The Secret Science Behind the Noise... 😉
​It looks like pure, noisy fun, but this activity is actually building giant brainpower:
​Future Readers: Tuning into different rhythms and popping sounds trains their ears to easily pick up distinct letter sounds when reading time comes.
​Mini Scientists: Figuring out how to make a "gentle whisper shake" versus a "thunderstorm shake" is a brilliant lesson in cause-and-effect!
