Baie geluk met Juffrou René se verjaarsdag!

Dankie vir die positiewe energie en toewyding wat Juffrou elke dag met die kinders deel. Juffrou se entoesiasme en omgee maak ’n verskil in die lewens van ons Staatsies. Mag die jaar wat voorlê vir Juffrou baie vreugde, seëninge en mooi herinneringe bring.

Dit is met diepe hartseer dat Laerskool Kathu aankondig dat een van ons skoolbusse wat personeel en leerders na die finale van die Van Druten-liga, aangebied deur Laerskool Seodin in Kuruman, vervoer het, in ’n ongeluk op die N14 sowat 12 km voor Kuruman betrokke was. Dit is met swaar harte dat ons bevestig dat een van ons onderwyseresse in die ongeluk oorlede is. Haar naam word in hierdie stadium nie bekendgemaak nie om tyd te gee dat naasbestaandes in kennis gestel word.

Berading word tans vir die personeel en leerders gereël. Enigiemand wat berading benodig, kan asseblief met hul registeronderwyser reël.

Onder die 44 leerders wat in die bus was, was daar geringe beserings en hulle is deur nooddienspersoneel by Laerskool Seodin ondersoek.

Ons kan bevestig dat 6 van ons personeellede en afrigters in die ongeluk beseer is. Nooddienste was vinnig op die toneel en het die personeel na die Lenmed-hospitaal in Kathu geneem. Van daar word vier persone per lugambulans en ambulans na Bloemfontein en Kimberley oorgeplaas terwyl een in Kathu agterbly vir observasie.

Laerskool Kathu en die SBL bedank vir Curro Kathu wat ons leerders vanaf die toneel na Laerskool Seodin vervoer het. Ons bedank ook vir Laerskool Seodin wat ons personeel en leerders versorg het. Ons waardeer dit. Ons bedank ook alle nooddienspersoneel, hospitaalpersoneel en vrywilligers en die breër Kathu-gemeenskap wat ons bygestaan en ondersteun het. Baie dankie aan al die skole en organisasies wat vir ons boodskappe van meelewing stuur.

Kathu Primary school community plunged into mourning after bus accident claims teacher’s life

It is with deep sadness that Kathu Primary School announces that one of our school buses, which was transporting staff and learners to the final of the Van Druten League hosted by Seodin Primary School in Kuruman, was involved in an accident on the N14 approximately 12 km before Kuruman. It is with heavy hearts that we confirm that one of our teachers passed away in the accident. Her name is not being released at this stage to allow time for family to be notified.

Counselling is currently being arranged for staff and learners. Anyone requiring counselling is requested to make arrangements through their class teacher.

Among the 44 learners who were on the bus, only minor injuries were sustained, and they were examined by emergency personnel at Seodin Primary School.

We can confirm that six of our staff members and coaches were injured in the accident. Emergency services responded quickly and transported the staff members to Lenmed Hospital in Kathu. From there, four individuals are being transferred by air ambulance and ambulance to Bloemfontein and Kimberley, while one remains in Kathu for observation.

Kathu Primary School and the School Governing Body would like to thank Curro Kathu for transporting our learners from the accident scene to Seodin Primary School. We also thank Seodin Primary School for caring for our staff and learners. We greatly appreciate it.

We further thank all emergency service personnel, hospital staff, volunteers, and the broader Kathu community who assisted and supported us during this difficult time. Thank you to all the schools and organizations that send messages to the school.
