50 years ago our youth marched to protest unequal, underfunded and inferior education. Sikhula Sonke's mission is to ensure that ALL our children receive quality early childhood education that gives them the foundation they need for lifelong learning. We still have a long way to go. We call on government and communities to invest in our youth, to invest in our South Africa's future.

We closed Child Protection Week with 40 caregivers from UT Gardens, under the theme: "WORKING TOGETHER TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN". The discussion was focused on children's rights, warning signs of abuse and neglect of children, and parental responsibilities to keep children protected.

Child Protection Week continues with our Monwabisi Park caregivers. The dialogue focused on equipping parents and community caregivers with the knowledge and skills to keep children safe. The session covered children’s rights, the types of abuse and their warning signs. Facilitators used group discussions and real scenarios to talk openly about the strategies to break cycles of violence, emphasizing that “reporting is caring”.
