Rheenendal Recycling Swop Shop

Rheenendal Recycling Swop Shop It is a recycling and donation-based initiative. Community people and kids collect recyclable waste The donations are where we need help.

The Swap Shop was born in 2011 and is run by the NPO Suurvlakte Initiative. The concept is to create an organic system of education on recycling waste and earning tokens to shop for goods. In any community-based project, it serves the people to have a commerce of some kind rather than just receiving constant handouts. Not to mention the staggering amounts of waste that accumulate in people's homes. Originally the concept was created for children aimed to help teach the value of work and earning, the children's eyes would light up in delight when they could shop for their goods with their earned tokens. Since the pandemic, many people are now unemployed and the swap shops' desire is to include anyone who wishes to be a part of it. Ideally, the vision will be to marry with other groups and create a donation stream and together keep the swap shop standing and operational. If you have an organization, church group or individual and you wish to assist to keep the shop shelves stocked, please message us and arrange a way to help. Many hands make light work and together we can make a difference in peoples lives

CALL TO ACTION – WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🙏💚
The Rheenendal Recycling Swop Shop is running low on essentials, and we’re calling on our amazing community to assist once again! 🌍✨
We urgently need funding and dry goods, especially red lentils, green split peas, rice, and stock cubes, to keep our soup mix jars going strong.
Every donation helps feed families, reward recyclers, and keep our shelves stocked with love. 💫

Thank you, Personal Trust Pty Limited Knysna branch.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Personal Trust Knysna for going above and beyond in support of the Rheenendal Recycling Swop Shop throughout 2025.

From collecting donations and helping us give the children of Keurhoek a truly special Mandela Day in July, to once again showing up with generosity and heart for the Swop Shop children’s Christmas party, your commitment has been extraordinary.

We cannot adequately express our appreciation for the individuals at Personal Trust who chose to give back in such a meaningful way and who selected our small, community-driven initiative.

A little truly does go a long way. The love was felt, and the joy on the children’s faces says everything. Thank you for waiting for the moment, and for making such a lasting impact through your kindness and care.

And thank you to Madi Butler for always sponsoring the yummy cake!!

Hey friends
The Rheenendal Recycling Swop Shop is plodding along - its super cold here in the forest, and it's an ideal time to help keep tummies filled - I am calling out for some support with our "soup mix" drive -
I take rice, red lentils, green peas, and stock block. The idea is that the kids take it home to mum and help with meal prep.
Even a R50 donation can help us keep the shelves stocked and tummies warm this winter. 💚
Let’s work together to support families in need while promoting recycling and dignity.

Payments to Mrs JR Fogg
