The African Green Pigeon is a shy bird that mostly stays high up in the treetops. It has a beautiful, unique call. They are predominantly fruit eaters which is fairly unusual for species of the dove/pigeon family. In Afrikaans - a South African language - the name for this bird is 'papagaaiduif' which translates to 'parrot dove'.. I think this describes them perfectly 😊
