A lot can change in more than a century but some things remain at our core.

Since 1919, the world around us has transformed, and Jeppe High School for Girls has grown and evolved with it.

Our classrooms have changed. Technology has changed. Opportunities have expanded. The way we teach, learn, communicate and connect continues to evolve.

But through it all, our foundation has remained steadfast, to educate, empower and inspire young women to strive for excellence, embrace opportunity and make a meaningful contribution to the world around them.

The world may look very different from the one our first Jeppe girls knew in 1919, but the heart of who we are and what we strive to achieve remains.

Another special recognition at this morning’s assembly celebrated the wonderful achievements of our learners who participated in the Jeppe Eisteddfod for Voice.

Showcasing repertoire from Pop to Opera, our girls impressed adjudicator Mr Theunis Botha, earning outstanding results:
More than 10 Diplomas (Distinctions)
Over 22 Gold and Gold Plus results

At this morning’s assembly, we were delighted to recognise our talented string musicians for their wonderful achievements at the Eisteddfod.

With entries across violin, viola and violoncello, our learners had the opportunity to perform for renowned South African cellist, pianist, conductor and teacher Carel Henn.

We are incredibly proud of their outstanding results, with an impressive 57 Gold and 14 Silver awards achieved. Some of our girls also demonstrated their versatility by competing on two different instruments.

It was a pleasure to celebrate these achievements and present our learners with their certificates in front of the school community.

Our Ruth First learners recently had the opportunity to volunteer at the Malvern Library homework desk, an initiative undertaken in collaboration with Jeppe High School for Boys.

During the visit, our learners assisted primary school pupils with their homework and schoolwork, sharing their knowledge, patience and encouragement with younger members of the community.

The experience proved incredibly rewarding, with our learners already expressing an interest in returning regularly to continue supporting the homework desk.

We are proud to see our learners recognising that service can take many forms — and that sometimes, simply giving your time and sharing what you know can make a meaningful difference.
