“Every woman’s success should be an inspiration to another. We’re strongest when we cheer each other on.” - Serena Williams
Powerful words from one queen to another. Happy International Women’s Day 👸

There are so many misconceptions and judgments surrounding both vaginal and c-section births, it can be difficult to choose and even harder to prepare. There is no easy route when it comes to bringing your baby into the world and both take equal amounts of strength and courage.
What’s important is to make informed choices, to feel empowered and to be able to actively participate in your recovery.

This is Kirsty Nel’s goal in her upcoming birth webinars. No bias or agendas, just facts and a passion for sharing her knowledge in the effort to support women in their pregnancy and postpartum journey 🌸

Feeling comfortable with the aftermath of bringing two humans into the world has been an epic struggle. It’s taken time and a lot of effort; purging my social media feeds, being intentional about spending time with people who contribute to a positive self image, vulnerable conversations that normalise the difficulties of postpartum recovery and walking away from the pressure to ‘bounce back’ within a few months.

I might not love it all, but I’m getting better at accepting this new body and not letting the imperfections hold me back. It’s all a work in progress right now but it’s inspired a different kind of transformation for me and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come.

In her upcoming webinars, Kirsty Nel explores the ‘messy’ parts of postpartum recovery and shares advice for getting back to ‘you’ again - email [email protected] for more details and bookings.

While the skillset of a Women’s Health Physio extends far beyond pregnancy and postpartum, it is the physically demanding journey of birthing a human that often leaves us needing a helping hand.

I wish I had know about this form of physio before my first baby. It would have saved me a lot of pain, anxiety and embarrassment. But it was my gift to myself the second time around and it’s been a wonderful re-education about my body.

This is what seeing a Women’s Health Physio gave me:
🌱Awareness and better understanding of my anatomy as a woman. The pelvic floor is so important in terms of how we function, not just from a sexual and reproductive point of view but every day living and breathing.
🌱Pain relief during my pregnancy which allowed me to continue life with a busy toddler and made those last few weeks in particular a lot more bearable.
🌱Confidence and the correct techniques for mobilising myself quickly post my c-section and getting the healing process going from day one.
🌱A comprehensive scar management plan for post my c-section.
🌱The skills to connect to my pelvic floor and engage it correctly during exercise and postpartum rehabilitation.
🌱Treatment and pain relief for blocked ducts and reoccurring mastitis.
🌱Someone to turn to for answers to all the embarrassing questions. I no longer have to accept “well that’s what happens after a baby, you have to just live with it”.
🌱More respect for my body and what its been through, and the patience to accept that my recovery is not a race to ‘bounce back’.

Kirsty Nel has been incredible in guiding me through this process. She is exceptional from a medical point of view but she also has the ability to make you feel completely comfortable when you are at your most vulnerable.
