Courage Always Situated in beautiful gardens in Melrose, Kingsmead is easily accessible from all areas of Greater Johannesburg.

The founder of Kingsmead College, Miss DV Thompson, planned a happy school, and this tradition continues - largely because of the spirit of comradeship between staff and girls and amongst our girls themselves. Girls from Grade 000 (Bluebells) to Matric flourish in the nurturing, yet stimulating environment.

Huge congratulations to the 12 Kingsmead Junior School students who participated in the Chatterbox Prepared Speech Festival at The Ridge School.

Our girls spoke with confidence, eloquence, and poise, sharing their ideas with courage and representing Kingsmead with distinction. We are incredibly proud of the effort, preparation, and enthusiasm they brought to the festival.

Well done, girls, your voices were heard, and you made us proud! πŸ’š

At Kingsmead, we know that some of the most important learning happens through play.

On this International Day of Play, we celebrate the joy, creativity, curiosity, and connection that play brings to our girls each day. Whether on the sports field, in the playground, or through imaginative exploration, play helps children build confidence, resilience, friendships, and a lifelong love of learning.

Today, we celebrate the laughter, wonder, and possibility that come from giving children the freedom to play. πŸ’šπŸ’›

Learning can be sweet!

A throwback to when we ticked off a bucket list moment for Ms Rademacher in Grade 10 Geography and had a whole lot of fun doing it!

Thanks to Nishka Makan, who kindly brought her candy floss machine from home, our final lesson of the term turned into an unforgettable hands‑on experience. As the candy floss spun, our girls created and identified different types of clouds, proving that learning really does stick when it’s interactive (and delicious!). ☁️🍭

A perfect example of curiosity, creativity, and joyful learning in action. πŸ’š

History came to life for our Grade 10 Afrikaans students during their recent excursion to the Voortrekker Monument.

As they explored the monument’s striking architecture and historical significance, learners gained deeper insight into Voortrekker history and the symbolism behind its famous sunlight feature. The experience was enriched by traditional bread-making demonstrations, the opportunity to taste freshly baked bread, and interactions with farm animals.

A wonderful day of hands-on learning, cultural exploration, and meaningful connection with South Africa’s heritage. πŸ’š

This World Environment Day, let's remember that caring for our planet starts with the small choices we make every day.

Whether it's recycling, reducing waste, planting something new, or simply spending time appreciating the beauty of nature, every action matters.

Together, we can help create a greener, healthier future for generations to come.πŸ’šπŸŒ

Still turning pages on the memories from this year's Kingsmead Book Fair πŸ“šβœ¨

From inspiring authors and exciting literary discoveries to the joy of seeing our community come together in celebration of books, storytelling, and imagination, it was a truly special day.

As we look back, we're reminded of the magic that happens when a community shares a love of reading. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a wonderful success.πŸ’š

Stories came to life during Book Week as our Grade 8 Afrikaans, isiZulu, and Sesotho students shared their own First Additional Language storybooks with our Grade 3 students.

After writing, editing, and refining their stories, the students used AI to create illustrations through thoughtful prompting, bringing their ideas vividly to life. The result was a wonderful blend of creativity, technology, language learning, and literacy.

Seeing our older students inspire a love of reading in the younger grades made for truly special moments and a beautiful celebration of storytelling across generations. πŸ’š
