Such a joy to pack my daughters favorites 🥦🍜🍖🍎🍊🧃

Imagine walking into a grocery store and never seeing a bill. 🛒 That is now real life in Regina Canada. The Regina Food Bank opened the BMO Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub, the country's first full scale free grocery store. Registered clients shop the aisles like any normal supermarket and pick exactly what their family needs. Every two weeks they can take home about two hundred dollars worth of groceries completely free. ❤️

This choice model replaces old style food hampers where families received items they could not always use. Staff say giving people choice restores dignity and even helps feed twenty five percent more people. In its first year alone over nine thousand families walked through these doors. 🍎 Sometimes the biggest change starts with simply letting people choose their own food.

What an honor!
This term I happened to be at a day care when the kids were about to have a snack break… to see the excitement when the lil boy opened his lunchbox and showed his friends what he had for lunch was nothing short of magical. 🍇🥒🍎
