Happening now | CAPSI and Higherlife Foundation are hosting a public lecture with Ms Elizabeth Tanya Masiyiwa on “Catalytic Philanthropy and the Future of African-Led Giving.”

Reflecting on 30 years of Higherlife Foundation and 10 years of CAPSI, Ms Masiyiwa asks: are we where we want to be? She highlights that organised giving has the power to scale — the question now is how we move from ambition to greater impact.

Congratulations to Wits Business School’s Dr Neo Mokone on conquering his second Comrades Marathon, the ultimate test of endurance, discipline, and purpose, crossing the finish line of the 85.77km “Up Run” in an impressive 10:37:03.

Beyond the finish line, his reflections on resilience, the power of showing up, and the deeper meaning of purpose offer an inspiring reminder that every grueling step is a lesson in what we can achieve when we commit to something greater than ourselves.

Save the Date | 7th African Philanthropy Conference 27–31 July 2027 | Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Philanthropy in the Age of AI and Digital Sovereignty in Africa

Addis Ababa is the seat of the African Union. It carries the memory of Adwa, an enduring symbol of African sovereignty and self-determination. And in 2027, it will host both the 7th APC and COP32, placing Africa at the centre of two of the most urgent conversations of our time: digital futures and climate justice.

The 7th APC asks what it means for African philanthropy to move from digital adaptation to digital agency. Who shapes AI? Who controls African data? Who benefits from digital finance? They are the questions the sector must answer in practice, through institutions, on African terms.
