🇨🇳🇿🇦2026 CHINA-SOUTH AFRICA HUMAN RIGHTS SEMINAR 🇿🇦🇨🇳
On 27 August 2026 the China–South Africa Human Rights Seminar was held in Hangzhou, China under the theme: “Common Modernization and Human Rights Development.”
The seminar was co-hosted by the Centre for Africa-China Studies (CACS) and the China Foundation for Human Rights Development and brought together scholars, officials and experts to exchange perspectives on human rights, the right to development and pathways to shared modernisation.
CACS played an important role in strengthening the South African and African perspective in these discussions. Prof. David Monyae, highlighted the need for China–Africa economic cooperation to go beyond trade volumes and focus on value creation, productivity and economic diversification.
The seminar provided an important platform for deepening China–South Africa and broader South–South dialogue on development and human rights.
