As we celebrate Women’s Month, the College of Business and Economics celebrates Dr Boniswa Siwundla, who recently graduated with a PhD titled “A Family Dynamics Financial Mindset Socialisation Model for Chartered Accountant Students from Underprivileged Backgrounds.”
Her research explores why young people may understand financial concepts in the classroom, yet struggle to apply this knowledge in their everyday financial lives. Her research found that, through the lived experiences of NSFAS-funded Chartered Accountancy students, financial mindsets are shaped long before formal financial education, with the home serving as the first place where young people learn about money through experiences of sacrifice, scarcity, caregiving, and resilience.
We celebrate women who use knowledge to transform lives, institutions, and contribute positively to society.🧡🧡🧡
