As we celebrate World Photography Day, it’s important to remember that what we share online can become part of our digital footprint.
Before posting a photo, video, or any information online, take a moment to ask yourself: Do I have permission to share this? Is the information accurate? Could this affect someone’s privacy? And would I be comfortable with it being online in the future?
Small choices like these can help us create safer and more responsible online spaces.
What is one rule you follow before sharing content online?

Every young person’s digital journey begins with curiosity ,asking questions, exploring new ideas and discovering new ways to learn.
This International Youth Day, iLizwe Lam celebrates young people who are building their digital skills and finding new ways to use technology in their everyday lives.
Artificial Intelligence is becoming part of how we learn, create and solve problems. When used responsibly, AI can help learners explore new ideas, improve their understanding and develop skills for the future.
With guidance from parents, caregivers and educators, young people can learn how to use technology safely, think critically and make responsible choices online.
Through the iLizwe Lam, we believe that helping learners build confidence with technology today prepares them for the opportunities of tomorrow.
Technology is a tool. How we use it shapes our future.
What digital skill or technology tool would you like to explore?

The internet offers children many opportunities to learn, connect and explore-but it can also expose them to challenges.
That's why it's important for parents and caregivers to prepare children before these situations arise. Teach them to recognise when something doesn't feel right, avoid engaging with harmful content, report inappropriate behaviour, and speak to a trusted adult if they need help.
These conversations can help children build the confidence to make safe and responsible choices online.
How do you prepare your child to respond to challenges they may encounter online?

As children learn, connect, and explore online, it's important they understand how their actions can affect both themselves and others. Respecting others, protecting personal information, thinking before posting, and speaking up when they see harmful behaviour all help create a safer and more positive online community.
Parents, teachers, and caregivers all have an important role to play by guiding these conversations, modelling responsible online behaviour, and helping children build the confidence to make good digital choices. Together, we can empower children to become confident, respectful, responsible, and safe digital citizens..
What online responsibility do you believe every child should learn from an early age? Share your thoughts in the comments.
