Johannesburg Metro Chess is the official body dedicated to the promotion and development of chess across Johannesburg.
We organize rated tournaments and co-ordinate regional team selections aimed at players of all ages and skill levels. Johannesburg Metro Chess is the region that represents chess players in the Johannesburg area as part of the Gauteng Province Chess. Founded in 2013 through the merging of multiple smaller unions within Johannesburg. We strive to enhance the reach of chess within Johannesburg and to enable all to participate in chess at school, regional and national levels.

Daniel, Caleb, Judah, Khanya, Chloe, Dhiya, Kajol, and Hayley — you’re all role models and you represented JMC with real heart.
A huge congratulations to IM Caleb Levitan on winning silver, and on being named the youngest member of South Africa’s Men’s Olympiad team 🇿🇦👏
And congratulations to WFM Chloe Badenhorst (silver) and WCM Hayley Nel (bronze) who will represent SA on the Women’s Olympiad team 🌟🙌
