The Stage 3R children have been exploring The World Around Them this term as we began learning about our beautiful country, South Africa. We also discovered the inspiring life of Nelson Mandela and spoke about the kindness, courage and respect that made him such an important leader.
As part of our learning, the children created their own South African flags using a variety of sensory materials. They carefully traced the flag on a light box before adding wood glue and filling each section with coloured sand, rice, sponge pieces and painted tissue paper. The children enjoyed exploring the different textures, naming the colours of the South African flag and developing their fine motor skills through this creative activity.
We are so proud of our enthusiastic children and the care they took in creating their colourful South African flags.

Sensory Day at the ELS

Sensory Day was all about getting our hands dirty—and what fun we had! The children loved exploring flour by tossing it into the air, watching it float back down, letting it run through their fingers, and even creating a “flour castle.” We ended the activity by making flour-filled stress balls, adding funny hair, and giving them some very creative haircuts! We also had great fun experimenting with coloured rice, scooping, pouring, and letting it trickle through our hands. It was a day filled with laughter, imagination, and wonderful sensory play!

This week, the Stage 2 children were introduced to scissors in our classroom and had so much fun! They rolled playdough into “sausages” and practised holding and using scissors correctly.
Each child had the opportunity to cut the playdough, and it was wonderful to see their excitement and growing confidence as they developed their fine motor skills.

What an amazing day at yesterday’s Cross Country event!
A huge well done to all our Senior Prep and College athletes who took part. Your determination, resilience, sportsmanship, and team spirit were on full display throughout the day. We are incredibly proud of every runner who challenged themselves and represented their school houses so well.

What a fantastic day of Cross Country for our Junior Prep learners at the beautiful Blue Hills Equestrian Estate!
Our children tackled the course with excitement, determination, and plenty of enthusiasm. Every learner put their best foot forward, showed incredible perseverance, and crossed the finish line with pride.
A huge well done to each and every child who participated today. We are so proud of your effort, courage, and positive spirit! 🌟
