O'Summit International College approaches each day with the belief that with hard work and perseverance, our learners - even the ones who are not naturally "academic" - have the potential to achieve great things.
This growth mindset encourages the love of learning and to become lifelong learners. Combined with hands-on learning, application and experimentation, this attitude instill in our learners the curiosity to approach a concept with eagerness and a problem solving attitude.
Growth mindset is the belief that intelligence and other qualities, abilities and talents can be improved with effort, learning and dedication over time.

As mothers, teachers and nurturers, we embrace our diverse roles at O'Summit International School with utmost care, compassion and commitment. On behalf of our heads of School: Kym, Eugenia, heads of department Rebecca and Lexi, teachers and support staff, we thank you for entrusting your children's education and well being to us. We marvel at the continued success and growth we have achieved together.
The essence of a Montessori education, encourages engaging with everyday activities that are fun, practical, yet rooted in science. At our beautiful primary environment, our young learners crafted their own delectable gifts in celebration of Mother's Day during collaborative play, using specialized learning.
Many nimble fingers and curious, yet imaginative little minds worked together at our Casa de Bambini environment to create very special memories for their Mommy's in celebration of Mother's Day today.
Today, 150 Spekboom [Portulacaria afra] plants will find new homes. Our students will plant them in support of the Spekboom project initiated by 8 year old Rebecca Murray, daughter of well known Owl rescue conservationists Brendan & Danelle. We encourage our parents and students to nourish, grow and propagate them by simply trimming stems. This indigenous and drought resistant succulent absorbs 10 times more air pollution than any other plant, and is quite a delicacy when paired with jams, or used in salads. More news about our school's community initiative and fundraising campaign for the Owl rescue centre in collaboration with Bryanston Country Club to follow next week. In the interim, please visit

We touch on the sentimentality of Valentine's day with a throwback from the past and marvel at The Beatles song: All you need is love. And in our teaching each day, reflect on the concept that "love is the supreme form of communication. In the hierarchy of needs, love stands as the ultimate developing agent of the humanity of the person. As such, the teaching of love, should be the central core of early childhood curriculum." [Ashley Montagu]. To all our parents & guardians.... happy Valentine's day!
Introducing our aspiring OSI super sport parents, friends and students...
A full turnout at OSI’s integrated sport day on Saturday, flouted any concerns about rain. Peals of laughter and shouts of encouragement soared through the school grounds at an early hour as students from Casa dei Bambini, Montessori and the College challenged each other, their parents, guardians and friends. Under the ever watchful eye of sports coach Rory Buttener, all aspired to put their best sprinting performance forward. Amidst many a tumble, the ever popular egg & spoon and sack races had everyone in stiches. Promising chess players were quietly engrossed in their own competitive pawn moves, not to be outsmarted by the fleet footed sport stars. Mouth-watering boerie, vegan & burgers swiftly dealt with any hunger pangs before the OSI sport stars finished their colour lap of fame run. “The best things in life are the people we love … the places we’ve been and the memories we’ve made along the way.” OSI extends a warm thank you to all parents, friends and students who made this day, most memorable.

Today, we learn from the wisdom of Maria Montessori who said: "the real purpose of education is to prepare the orientation for future generations, who will progress to a new plane." On their first day back to school, our young learners eagerly expressed their freedom to explore their interests, using materials that fit their specific needs. Guided by our dedicated team of teachers and assistants, we look forward to charting their continued growth and development at our school. We are truly encouraged by the unwavering support of our parents and guardians and are enthused to make this year a stellar one.
