We recently had a productive preliminary meeting between FIG - International Federation of Surveyors and some of the South Africa delegation regarding the Congress. We discussed a variety of ideas for events and outings, as well as the structure and model of the LOC.
2026 will mark a historic milestone as the first time a Congress is held in Africa, and we are deeply honoured to host it in the beautiful city of Cape Town.

After a successful AfricaGeo 2018 and successful previous Geomatics Indaba Events, the Institutes together with CONSAS felt that an economic breather was needed, particularly in a challenging economy, and thus in 2019 there would be no national conference but rather regional events, held by the institutes, which would serve a much wider audience and alleviate the attendees cost of travel.
In this regard GISSA will be holding a regional seminar over and above its usual workshop events and SAGI will be rolling out numerous regional / branch workshops in 2019. Both GISSA and SAGI will in due course release the dates for such events. These event will address all CPD requirements.
EE Publishers is the owner of SA GeoTech, and thus as they are a commercial entity involved in Geomatics matters in South Africa, SAGI lent its endorsement to their event. The event is not run by SAGI, nor does it have the involvement of SAGI – it is simply been endorsement by SAGI as an event associated with the industry. SAGI’s and GISSA’s focus for 2019 will be its regional events geared to serve all their member’s needs.
Numerous emails have been received by Cebisa (the conference organizers of the last 2 conferences) in relation to SA GeoTech and we wish to point out that SA GeoTech has no relation to Cebisa Conferences, CONSAS or the Institutes. Please direct any enquiries regarding SA GeoTech to EE Publishers.
GISSA and SAGI will early in 2019 announce the seminar and workshop dates hosted by their respective regional / branch events. We wish you a happy and safe 2018 Holiday Season.
