Every seven-year-old has an inner world we don’t always see — and big feelings can still feel bigger than their words.
This visual gives voice to what many children wish they could say when they’re overwhelmed, misunderstood, or struggling to regulate.

If you’re supporting a young person who feels things deeply, our Managing Big Feelings Toolkit walks you through brain-based strategies that actually help — link in comments below ⬇️ or via Linktree Shop in Bio.

What’s one sentence from this visual that really landed for you? I’d love to hear — your reflections help others feel less alone.

Our words become part of our children’s inner landscape.

They settle into the quiet places — shaping what they reach for, what they trust in themselves, and what they believe is possible.

The way we speak to them becomes the voice they grow up hearing inside. So let that voice be steady. Let it be warm. Let it remind them they are capable, worthy, and never too much for the life they’re meant to live.

Because long after our conversations fade, the belief we place in them remains — carried forward, whispered back to them every time they doubt their own light. ❤️

When a child walks into school, they’re carrying two backpacks.
One is visible — filled with notebooks, textbooks, maybe a lunchbox.
But the other is invisible — and that’s the one that really matters.

In that second backpack are all the emotions they bring from home. The little victories from yesterday. Their fears. The weight of expectations they’re trying to meet. Sometimes, it’s packed with a parent’s morning hug and the memory of a smile at the door. Other times, it’s heavy with the echo of an argument before the bus arrived.

Inside are feelings of belonging — or loneliness. Confidence — or worry.
And tucked deep inside are the things they don’t have words for yet, the things they wish someone would notice, just so their backpack could feel a little lighter.

P.S.
That second backpack? You can’t see it.
But if you look closely — you’ll recognize it in their eyes, their silence, or the way they act.

We just work better when we support each other.
As a family.
As a group.
As a little circle that chooses love over everything else.

When one of us is down, we lift.
When one struggles, we steady.
When one needs a soft place to land, we become it.

That’s the beauty of us—
not that we’re perfect,
but that we show up for one another
again and again
in all the small, quiet, everyday ways
that make life feel a little lighter.

Here’s to holding each other up.
Here’s to growing together.
Here’s to us.

Your child’s teacher is a person.
A human being.

They have good days and hard days—just like you.
They have families, worries, and lives outside the classroom.

So each morning, ask how they’re doing.
Care about them.
Ask about their kids.
If they were out sick, ask if they're feeling better.
Give them grace when they make a mistake.
And think twice before firing off that frustrated email.

Because your child’s teacher isn’t just teaching a class—
they’re giving a piece of themselves to help your child grow.

And they deserve kindness and respect.

Ek het die afgelope paar weke opnuut besef hoe erg kinders (en grootmense!) onder boelies deurloop. As dié rympie vir net één mens iets kan beteken, sal dit my baie gelukkig maak. Deel dit gerus.
