Learning about Kashrut came to life this week when our Grade 3's visited Moishe's. The children identified the dairy, meat and parev items and saw a variety of kosher products and symbols. We are so grateful to Yaakov Lazarus and the Mashgiach for engaging with the children and answering their questions.

In honour of World Read-aloud Day, students paired up with one another, outdoors in the shade and in the classrooms, to enjoy rich literature, stories and conversations. Reading was alive and thriving in our school!

Yesterday, King David staff had the opportunity to attend an incredibly powerful and relatable talk by organisational psychologist Shira Gutnick, โWhen Stress Stopped My Heart: Restoring Our Inner Roots.โ It was the perfect Tu Bishvat reminder that while we spend so much time nurturing others, we also need to nurture ourselves โ mind, body, and soul. At King David, we are proud to be a community that values not only excellence, but also the wellbeing of every staff member, because how you are doing matters as much as the work you do.

Our Grade 6 moms and daughters came together yesterday for an interactive Batti 101 session. The gathering offered a meaningful opportunity to connect, explore the significance of becoming a Bat Mitzvah, review Batti offerings, and share important reminders. Moms and daughters reflected on their personal goals and hopes, recording them in the Tefillah journals the girls will use throughout the year. We are so proud of these beautiful young women, who will no doubt embrace this special time in their lives with kindness, purpose, and joy.

Today, we celebrated Tu B'Shevat at school positively and meaningfully! We united in Tefillah, said a prayer for the growth of the trees, learned about the Shiv'at Haminim (7 Species of Israel) and made the "Borei Pri Ha'etz" blessing over fresh fruit.
The children โgot their hands in the soil to plant new trees, ensuring a greener future for generations to come. Our planting ceremonies included powerful words about our connection to Eretz Yisrael and the many life-lessons that we can learn from trees. These discussions will continue as many of the children watch their own pot plants grow over the coming months.
We are so proud of the seed collection which will benefit underprivileged communities, and are grateful to the JNF for the generous donation of trees and the 'birthday' cakes and treats in honour of the birthday of the trees!
Chag Tu B'Shvat Sameach!

For over two years we held our breath, hoping and praying for all our hostages to come home. This week, we can finally breathe again, with gratitude and relief, while also holding space in our hearts for all that was lost along the way.
