As South Africa celebrates 28 years of freedom, we reflect on our progressive freedom Constitution, which guarantees the right to education as a fundamental right. However, in a country where the disparity between the haves and have-nots is widening, freedom remains a turn of phrase for many, and can only be realised when quality education is the lived experience of every child.

Let us all come together in undoing the fault lines, which have been deepened, at an alarming rate by the global Covid-19 pandemic. It takes a village!

There is always some scope to learn a new way to solve issues around us and we must always be open to find them and try them. Today's a great day to reignite or fuel your creativity in education! Let us celebrate the occasion of World Creativity and Innovation Day by thinking out of the box and looking for creative solutions to our problems.

Happy World Creativity and Innovation Day.

The education system faces several issues that affect teachers, learners and school leaders. It is essential for the various stakeholders in education to be interconnected and interdependent. For that reason, the theme “interconnected and interdependence” was explored in the South African Extraordinary Schools Coalition CoP. This entails all stakeholders involved in education being connected at various levels and are mutually reliant on one another to ensure effective learning and teaching. The CoP presenters focused on interconnected and interdependent in different components of the community, schools and social spheres which enabled diverse views on the topic.
